I posted something on our blog last month about missing our house and got absolutely roasted in the comments. Apparently admitting you miss anything about sticks-and-bricks living is RV blasphemy.

Well too bad. Honesty is kinda our thing. So here goes.

Things We Miss

A real oven. Our RV oven is a toy. I cannot bake anything properly in it. Lisa made cookies last week that were burnt on the bottom and raw on top. We miss real baking so much.

A garage. Having a place to put tools, do projects, store stuff out of the weather. Our basement storage compartments are not the same.

A bathtub. Lisa really misses taking baths. Our shower is functional but "luxurious" is not the word I'd use.

Counter space. We have about 4 square feet of usable counter. Meal prep is a tetris game.

Stable internet. Even with our fancy setup, some days the internet just doesnt work. In a house you call the cable company and yell at them. In an RV you just deal with it.

Things We Don't Miss

The mortgage. Oh my god the freedom of no mortgage payment. Life-changing.

Lawn care. Never mowing a lawn again is possibly my favorite thing about RV life.

Commuting. My commute is now from the bedroom to the kitchen. 8 feet.

Stuff accumulation. In a house, stuff breeds. It just appears. In an RV, everything has to earn its space. We own less than ever and we're happier than ever.

Neighbors you can't escape.

Balance. Its always about balance. Anyone who says RV life is perfect in every way is selling something.

Interesting take! Has anyone tried this in cold weather too?

This makes me want to plan a trip just to try it out.

We learned most of this the hard way. Nice to see it written out clearly.
