There's dispersed camping all around Sedona on National Forest land and some of it is genuinely stunning.

Forest Road 525

This is the one everyone knows about and for good reason. Drive out past the Enchantment Resort area and you'll start seeing pulloffs. Some have fire rings and flat spots that are clearly established sites. I camped here for 4 nights and had a direct view of Doe Mountain. Insane.

Gets crowded on weekends. Show up midweek for best selection.

Schnebly Hill Road

More adventurous. The road gets rough after the first couple miles. My teardrop handled it fine but I wouldn't bring anything over 25 feet. The views from up top are the best in the area. Period.

Tips

14-day stay limit on forest land. No campfires when fire restrictions are active (which is most of summer). Pack your trash, bring water, leave no trace.

Cell signal is hit or miss depending on the canyon. I had decent T-Mobile coverage on 525 but nothing on Schnebly Hill.

Sedona on a budget is absolutely possible. You just have to be willing to skip the fancy resorts and embrace the dirt.

Love this perspective. Not enough people talk about this openly.

Simple, practical, real. This is why I keep coming back to RVParks.
