About Little River RV Park and Campground

Campground in Alabama.

Nestled in the scenic foothills of northeastern Alabama, Little River RV Park and Campground offers a peaceful retreat for RV travelers seeking to explore one of the Southeast's most captivating regions. Located in Fort Payne, this intimate 42-site park provides a comfortable home base for discovering the natural beauty and cultural heritage that make this area so special.

Fort Payne sits at the gateway to some of Alabama's most stunning natural attractions. The town itself has earned recognition as the "Outdoor Recreation Capital of Alabama," and for good reason. Visitors staying at Little River RV Park find themselves perfectly positioned to explore the dramatic landscapes of Little River Canyon National Preserve, where steep canyon walls rise dramatically above the winding Little River below. The preserve offers exceptional opportunities for hiking, with trails ranging from easy riverside walks to more challenging ridge-top adventures. Water lovers will appreciate the chance to paddle or tube down the river during warmer months, experiencing the canyon from a unique perspective.

The area's rich history adds another dimension to a stay here. Fort Payne has deep roots in American music and Native American heritage. The Burt Reynolds Motorcycle Museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage and classic motorcycles in a beautifully restored historic building. Meanwhile, history enthusiasts can visit the nearby Sequoyah Caverns, an underground wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites, or explore monuments and sites related to the Cherokee heritage that shaped this region.

For those interested in outdoor recreation beyond the immediate area, Little River RV Park serves as an excellent jumping-off point for visits to DeSoto Falls, Mentone's artistic community just 20 minutes away, and the scenic byways that wind through the surrounding mountains. The park's location also makes it accessible to larger attractions while maintaining the peaceful, small-town atmosphere many RV travelers seek.

Whether you're an outdoor adventurer, history buff, or simply looking for a scenic spot to relax and enjoy the Alabama mountains, Little River RV Park offers a welcoming setting for your RV travels.

This campground is a diamond in the rough, nestled in the mountains of Ft Payne Alabama. 15 minutes from restaurants and shopping but buried in the rural wooded mountain side. The owners are improving and have a great vision for this site. It's not like a lot of campgrounds where there is nothing but pavement and no trees and you have to rent shade. This campground for those of us that like to camp in the rough but still want modern conveniences look no further. Plenty of trees and buried in nature, hiking trails within the campground and a nice pond. Management is always on site and ready and willing to assist in any way to make sure your excursion is a success. During our stay we discovered the sewer was not draining but Mark the Manager was already addressing the issue and had a crew out the next day and repaired the pipe, which I was impressed especially since it involved digging up the road to do it, lol. I can't say enough good things about Little River Campground, a family atmosphere between all campers and actually they had a community grill out during our stay and supplied the hamburgers and hotdogs and all guests were invited. If your going to be in the Ft. Payne area and looking for a nice little place to call home for a few days or longer don't pass the opportunity to stay at Little River Campground, you won't regret it. Thanks and God Bless.

We stopped here while passing through. We were trying to avoid the ice storms so we ended up only staying one night instead of two. The owners were available and the sites were new. The bathroom I went into was clean. I didn’t see showers but I didn’t look either. If that’s important make sure to call and ask about it. It was a quick and convenient stop.

From the moment we pulled into the RV park, we were greeted by the owner who was hospitable, kind and informative. We met several very nice people and we will definitely return next year!

This campground was okay. We called the day before as you can’t book online, picked a specific site that we knew would fit our large toy hauler and had grass for our dogs. We showed up and someone was in our site we booked. Slightly annoying but not a deal breaker. We stayed in a site right at the front not near most of them so I didn’t get to see most of the place. Bathrooms were gross, hang out... This campground was okay. Overall not a horrible place but not somewhere I’d plan to stay again.

This is an awesome campground so well kept and surrounded by trees and a beautiful little pond. Also like the other amenities like the fun clubhouse and walking trails all around.
