About Northgate RV Travel Park

Campground in Alabama.

Northgate RV Travel Park offers a welcoming home base for RV travelers exploring the charm and culture of North Alabama. Located in Athens on US Highway 31 North, this intimate 23-site park provides convenient access to one of Alabama's most vibrant college towns while maintaining a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere perfect for rest and relaxation during your travels.

Athens is a destination rich with character and Southern hospitality. The downtown area features an eclectic mix of locally-owned restaurants, boutiques, and galleries that reflect the creative spirit fostered by the University of Alabama's presence in nearby Tuscaloosa. Whether you're interested in live music venues, farm-to-table dining, or exploring unique shops, Athens delivers authentic experiences without the overwhelming scale of larger cities. The town's slower pace makes it ideal for travelers who want to step out of their RVs and truly experience local life.

The surrounding region offers numerous attractions for outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Nearby Limestone County provides beautiful natural landscapes for hiking and scenic drives. The Tennessee River is within reach for those interested in water activities and fishing opportunities. History lovers will find plenty to explore, as North Alabama played significant roles in early American settlement and development. Multiple state parks and natural areas are accessible for day trips from the park.

Northgate's central location makes it an excellent stopping point whether you're traveling north toward Tennessee, south toward Birmingham, or exploring the broader Northeast Alabama region. The park's manageable size creates an intimate community feel while still maintaining the convenience and accessibility that modern RV travelers expect. With its 23 sites, you'll find a peaceful setting that doesn't feel overcrowded, allowing you to enjoy both the park and easy access to town attractions.

Athens welcomes families, retirees, adventure seekers, and anyone looking to experience authentic Alabama hospitality. The combination of small-town charm, regional attractions, and convenient highway access makes Northgate RV Travel Park a logical choice for your next travel stop or extended stay in North Alabama.

My husband spoke to him right before check out time, and the owner asked him how it went. My husband told him he wasn't happy about the water issue, and the owner offered no compensation for it. Then he told my husband that check out time was in 15 minutes as if to tell him he needed to hurry. Side note: we were the only ones staying at the rv park. The place was vacant... We will never go back there again. Rude

Right off I-65, exit 354 in Athens, Al. Easy to get in and out of with a 45 foot fifth wheel & f-450 long bed truck. Nice, clean, felt safe and close to a Walmart & Lowe’s & restaurants. No sweet dump, but not needed for an overnight or 2. Has power and water. I like the pull through sites.

We camped here for the first time on our way back from Florida. It is a simple campground with easy access sites. There were no real amenities, but it was a perfect stopover with nice owners. There were about a dozen people that overnighter there the night we stayed. The only thing I would coach guests on coming from I65 is that the entrance doesn't have a deceleration lane, and traffic moves fair... We camped here for the first time on our way back from Florida. The only thing I would coach guests on coming from I65 is that the entrance doesn't have a deceleration lane, and traffic moves fairly fast, so use your turn signals soon and begin a long deceleration. Also, because of a deep drainage ditch on either side of the entrance, it would be prudent to take a very wide swing into the entrance. We were driving a 43' Class A towing a Chevy Tahoe, and we made it from the right lane, but not a lot of buffer. About a 5 on the pucker factor scale of 10.
