Joe Wheeler State Park is a beautiful public recreation area on Wheeler Lake in northwest Alabama, near Rogersville and Wheeler Dam. It’s peaceful, clean, and very family-friendly, with stunning lake views and abundant wildlife. The park offers several lodging options, including a resort lodge with lakeside rooms and private balconies, spacious lakeside cottages, and both improved and primitive campsites in a quiet wooded setting. There’s plenty to do for all ages—well-marked hiking and biking trails with scenic viewpoints, boating with an on-site marina, golfing, a swimming pool at the lodge, and picnic areas with pavilions. The park also hosts fun events like the annual Parade of Lights and boating rendezvous. Overall, Joe Wheeler State Park is a relaxing and well-maintained destination, perfect for a weekend getaway, family trip, or outdoor adventure. Highly recommend!

Great place to bring family. Very peaceful and relaxing. Walking trails are awesome. Well worth checking out. They have cabins you can rent by the water. They also have hotel rooms that are nice and clean with a swimming pool. Basketball courts, tennis courts, golf course, camp grounds, etc... just an all around great place.

Took the pontoon boat scenic tour of the lake. The Captain was great and highly informative. Lash's restaurant provides the food in the restaurant and it's really very good. A little more expensive than if you go directly to Lash's. Highly recommend the boat ride.

Really nice start park. Park naturalist Jennings is very enthusiastic, and does boat tours, fishing trips, bird walks etc. We saw two bald eagle nests on his tours. We also saw deer, and various birds. Unfortunately we didn't see any river otters.

Very nice state park overlooking the Tennessee River. A loop camp sites are more wooded. B & C loop camp sites are more open. Bathhouses are clean and well maintained. B-27, B-31, B-26, C-11

Everything is kept clean and nice here at the campground. The sites are gravel but easy to get level with full hookups, except just a few are not. The only negatives about the campground is the playground is really old and there is no pool that you're allowed to use if you're camping.

What a great state park campground. Big rig friendly. B & C sections have been totally redone after the big tornado several years ago with completely new bathhouses. Really nice.

Fantastic campground. We stayed in C 10. Beautiful views on large, level gravel sites. Well-maintained and clean, with full hookups. Senior discount is nice too. We will return!

Stayed here June 2023 weekend in section C. Bathroom and showers clean. New bath house. 2022 I think. C camp area remodeling 2022 after tornado damage. Was told other sections, A and B starting August 2023. We had site C5. Level pullover site. Weird layout but useable. Will return. Staff great.
