About Canyon Point Campground

Campground in Arizona.

Nestled in the scenic high country of Arizona, Canyon Point Campground offers a peaceful retreat for RV travelers seeking authentic mountain camping experiences. Located at an elevation that provides relief from the desert heat, this public campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the natural wonders of central Arizona.

The surrounding Forest Lakes area is known for its stunning pine forests and cooler temperatures, making it a popular escape during hot Arizona summers. The landscape features rolling terrain with dramatic canyon views that give the campground its distinctive character. The elevation and forest setting create a refreshing environment quite different from the typical desert RV camping experience many associate with Arizona, allowing visitors to experience the state's diverse geography.

From Canyon Point Campground, you'll find yourself well-positioned for outdoor adventures. The nearby areas offer excellent opportunities for hiking, with trails ranging from easy nature walks to more challenging mountain routes. Fishing enthusiasts appreciate the proximity to quality fishing spots in the region. The campground's location along State Route 260 provides convenient access to both natural attractions and the charming communities that dot the Arizona high country.

The Forest Lakes community itself maintains a quiet, residential character that appeals to travelers seeking a slower pace. Unlike heavily developed RV resort areas, this public campground preserves the natural camping atmosphere that many RV enthusiasts prefer. The cooler weather and forest environment attract visitors throughout much of the year, though summer remains the peak season when travelers actively escape lower elevation heat.

Families enjoy the safe, accessible nature of public campgrounds, while solo travelers and couples appreciate the peaceful surroundings. The area works well for those planning extended stays or using the location as a hub for exploring central Arizona's outdoor recreation opportunities. Whether you're looking to disconnect from summer heat, enjoy mountain scenery, or explore Arizona's high country terrain, Canyon Point Campground provides a practical and pleasant base for your RV adventure.

Gorgeous part of Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. I really like that the bathrooms are single units, toilet and shower and enough space to change. Nobody walking in on you! I'm sure there's even more but that's what we observed in the one night we stopped by. The campsites have firepits with grills, picnic tables, an concrete pads to park on.

I have to say this was one of the nicest, cleanest, friendly camp ground i have ever been to up on this mountain and I do a lot of camping. These campgrounds are extremely clean, and the campgrounds hosts are awesome. They have showers and flush toilets at the entrance all aothers are rustic, but clean. This isn't the place to come if you want to be loud and boisterous. If you want to enjoy your camping experience, this isn't a bad place for it.

I prefer to camp away from people. That said; This campground is well planned out, maintained and ran by friendly folks. Good facilities as far as water, tank dump for rv. We stayed at an electric site for a few nights and we liked it. Pretty well-behaved, and the sites are set up to where you have some privacy and nobody is on top of you. Good facilities as far as water, tank dump for rv. We stayed at an electric site for a few nights and we liked it. Pretty well-behaved, and the sites are set up to where you have some privacy and nobody is on top of you. We have stayed in the non-electric sites and they were okay but people do run generators from time to time which irritates me to no end. No water at the sites but there are potable drinking water faucets around the campground in both electric and non-electric sections. Best to fill up when you arrive at the campground up by the dump stations. Tried a shower..they are ok. People that work there seem to like their jobs and the place is clean. They do sell firewood and ice. The website is nice because you can actually see where the camp spot is in relation to other camp spots. Easy reservation and if you have to cancel you get most of it back. I suggest an eastern exposure for trailer as the afternoon sun can still bear down. Like I said I prefer to be away from people but this is doable.

Nice campground, plenty of spaces. Last year I was in an electric site and this year standard. Both areas have good spacing between sites. Clean and plentiful bathrooms with water spigots outside. They have a dump station but no way to connect a hose to wash out your black tank. I really didn't like that. Plenty of dumpsters, nice showers but it's a push button deal 🙁. Oh, what are those growths on the pines?? 😵‍💫
