Very nostalgic since I used to explore other areas around here as a kid. Dad took us here for a family hike, sharing great stories from High School days and other adventures.

The trail was not well maintained and had to turn back after a few hundred feet when the trail was blocked by overgrown vegetation. Broken glass and bullet casings at the start of the trail (I guess it's named 'six shooter' for a reason). Recommend a decent high clearance vehicle to make it to the CCC campground trailhead. The restroom was clean, though. Didn't see too many cars or people on July 4th weekend - too hot maybe. Wouldn't recommend in summer or until the vegetation recovers.
