About Temple Bar Campground

Campground in Arizona.

Nestled along the scenic shores of Lake Mead, Temple Bar Campground offers RV travelers an exceptional desert camping experience in one of Arizona's most iconic natural settings. This public campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the stunning landscapes of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, where turquoise waters meet dramatic desert mountains and colorful rock formations create a landscape that feels almost otherworldly.

The location provides immediate access to some of the Southwest's most treasured outdoor recreation opportunities. Lake Mead itself is the centerpiece, offering excellent fishing for striped bass, largemouth bass, and catfish, making it a paradise for anglers. Boating enthusiasts will find the waters perfect for cruising, water skiing, and jet skiing, while swimmers can enjoy designated beach areas during warmer months. The surrounding terrain invites exploration through hiking trails that wind through desert terrain and offer panoramic views of the massive blue lake contrasting against the arid landscape.

Beyond the water-based activities, the area's natural beauty extends to dramatic geological formations and scenic overlooks that showcase millions of years of geological history. The nearby Grand Wash Cliffs and Valley of Fire State Park provide additional hiking and photography opportunities for those seeking to venture slightly further afield. The region is also steeped in history, with remnants of old mining operations and Native American heritage sites dotting the landscape.

Temple Bar Campground attracts a diverse range of travelers, from serious anglers planning fishing expeditions to families seeking affordable desert camping, couples looking for peaceful getaways, and outdoor enthusiasts wanting direct lake access without premium resort amenities. The public campground model means visitors often find a more authentic, unpretentious camping atmosphere. The area's elevation and desert setting provide mild winter temperatures, making it an appealing destination for RV travelers escaping colder climates during the cooler months.

The small community of Temple Bar itself offers basic services and supplies, though many travelers stock up in larger nearby towns before arriving. The remote location, while requiring some planning, rewards visitors with authentic desert solitude and genuine connection to the natural landscape that defines this region of Arizona.

Did a little recon trip for future camping trips. Nice little spot near the lake. Came out in March so cooler weather. Sites are a little small compared to a lot of other campgrounds, but good enough for a couple tents. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Trees all around, but I imagine may not help too much under the summer sun and heat. Store is about 1/4 mile away, so easy stroll. Rest... Did a little recon trip for future camping trips. Restaurant/Bar being renovated with anticipated reopening Memorial Day 2021.

A wonderful little gem of a campground! We were there in early March and there was only three other campers. Plenty of shade with eucalyptus, Olive, palm and oleander bushes throughout the whole campground. Makes every little campsite nice and cozy. The water is quite far away these days, but accessible and the well-stocked Marina store will have just about anything you could need. This is the... A wonderful little gem of a campground! This is the first come first serve campground, but I've heard a rumor that this may change. But for now, don't tell anyone cuz I want to keep this one a secret.

Now for the best part, the General Manager Nathan was amazing. He was so accommodating to us, had someone parked there boat in our spot and didn't even blink an eye and helped us grab a new RV spot. Had a wonderful conversation as well. The Bar and Cafe seems really old and ran down, but the service made up for all that!! And the food was excellent with amazing cheap prices you would not see anywhere else on the water. Hopefully the water level stays up so we can come again and enjoy another excellent weekend!!
