About Wahweap Campground

Campground in Arizona.

Wahweap Campground sits in one of Arizona's most spectacular regions, offering RV campers an ideal basecamp for exploring the stunning landscapes surrounding Page. Located right on the shores of Lake Powell, this public campground provides immediate access to one of the Southwest's most beloved water recreation destinations. The nearby town of Page serves as a convenient hub for supplies, dining, and services, ensuring you have everything you need while maintaining that peaceful camping atmosphere.

The real magic of staying at Wahweap Campground lies in your proximity to some truly iconic natural wonders. Lake Powell itself is a paradise for water enthusiasts, with over 1,800 miles of shoreline offering houseboating, fishing, water skiing, and peaceful swimming opportunities. The lake's brilliant blue waters against the red rock formations create some of the most photographed vistas in the country. Beyond the water, you're perfectly positioned to explore incredible geological formations and hiking opportunities in the surrounding area.

Page sits near several world-class attractions that make this an exceptional destination for RV travelers. Antelope Canyon, famous for its narrow slot canyon passages and ethereal light beams, is just minutes away and draws photographers and nature lovers from around the globe. Glen Canyon National Recreation Area surrounds much of the region, offering hiking trails, scenic overlooks, and deeper connections to the Colorado River landscape. The area's unique geology and Native American heritage create a rich cultural experience that extends far beyond typical camping.

The high desert climate means generally pleasant weather for much of the year, though the summer sun can be intense. Spring and fall offer particularly comfortable temperatures for exploring and enjoying water activities. Sunset views across Lake Powell from the campground are truly unforgettable, painting the sky in brilliant hues that reflect off the water.

Whether you're seeking adventure on the water, serious hiking and photography opportunities, or simply a peaceful retreat surrounded by remarkable natural beauty, Wahweap Campground serves as an excellent launching point for a memorable Arizona camping experience.

Very nice area to camp. Clean, large sites and spread out. Each circle area has its own bathrooms/showers. Great views of the lake and scenery. Make sure to see the rising sun! Very pretty! The campsites are uphill from the convenience store/registration office and the store is uphill from the shore. It’s a good walk.

Loved it. I did wonder why with the heat and no trees that they don't have picnic table covers. Any thing would be helpful especially on those days when its super windy. Free showers to campers. Just make sure you put three coins in at once!!

We had a great stay at Wahweap Campground! The facilities are excellent — clean, well-maintained, and spacious. The camp store itself is well-stocked with everything you might need — from snacks to camping supplies and souvenirs — though prices are on the higher side, so it’s good to plan ahead if you’re on a budget. The campground layout offers a good mix of privacy and beautiful views, especially near Lake Powell. It’s a fantastic location for exploring the area. Overall, highly recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable and scenic camping experience!

We arrived on November 7th for two nights. We paid $60 per night, and on top of that, $3 for an 8-minute shower — and we were four people. The showers were in terrible condition: dirty, rusty, with broken shower heads or barely any water pressure. Out of seven showers, only three were open, and none of them were clean. The showers were in terrible condition: dirty, rusty, with broken shower heads or barely any water pressure. Out of seven showers, only three were open, and none of them were clean. The front desk service was indifferent and unprofessional. We asked where we could empty our RV tanks, and they directed us to a dump station that was closed for the season. The staff was unable to tell us where else we could go. We ended up paying $15 at another campground to dump our tanks, only to find out later that the Wahweap sites actually have their own dump stations — something the front desk failed to mention. So we basically paid $15 for nothing. We also wanted to do laundry but got confused because there are two different coin systems — one for the showers and another for the laundry. When we explained the situation, the front desk made no effort to help or exchange the coins, so we lost another $3. We’re on a road trip and this was our fifth stop — by far the worst experience. Very disappointing overall. Fortunately, the natural surroundings were absolutely stunning, which was the only redeeming part of our stay. Definitely a campground to avoid!
