About Kit Carson RV Park

Campground in Arizona.

Nestled in the heart of Flagstaff, Arizona, Kit Carson RV Park offers the perfect basecamp for exploring one of the Southwest's most captivating regions. Located at 2101 West Historic Route 66, this park puts you right along one of America's most iconic highways, giving your RV adventure a touch of classic Americana.

Flagstaff itself is a wonderful mountain town perched at over 7,000 feet elevation, providing a refreshing escape from the desert heat. The town is known for its vibrant arts scene, diverse dining options, and charming downtown area filled with local shops and galleries. The cooler mountain climate makes it an ideal destination for those seeking relief from Arizona's scorching summers, and the high elevation means stunning star-filled nights that make camping particularly special.

The area surrounding Kit Carson RV Park is rich with natural attractions and outdoor activities. The Grand Canyon lies just 80 miles to the north, making it an accessible day trip or multi-day adventure. Walnut Canyon National Monument is practically on your doorstep, offering scenic hiking trails and ancient cliff dwellings that tell the story of the Sinagua people who lived in this region centuries ago. For those interested in geological wonders, Sunset Crater and Wupatki National Monuments are also within reasonable driving distance.

The landscape around Flagstaff is remarkable, with ponderosa pine forests providing a lush backdrop quite different from typical desert camping. Hiking enthusiasts will find countless trails ranging from easy walks to challenging mountain adventures. In winter, the San Francisco Peaks provide skiing opportunities, making Flagstaff a year-round destination.

The Historic Route 66 location means you're part of a legendary American journey. The town celebrates this heritage, and the surrounding area is dotted with vintage stops and nostalgic landmarks that appeal to road trip enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

Kit Carson RV Park serves as an excellent hub for families, outdoor adventurers, and anyone wanting to explore northern Arizona's incredible natural and cultural attractions while enjoying comfortable RV accommodations.

We recently had an issue at the KOA in Flagstaff. The team at Kit Carson helped us find a space with full hook ups day of our dilemma. We were incredibly stressed out and their assistance wiped it away. Strongly recommend.

You need to send full insurance information on your rig and your truck before reservations can be made. Never have that in the three years we have been full time and been across the entire country three times. Once we pulled in we figured out why. The power lines are so low that the first three spots they wanted us to take we would have ripped down the power line. Finally took a spot we could barely get in to. Our trailer was so close to the power lines we weren't comfortable with a possible power arc. (See photos of our Montana) When we dumped our tanks to leave, the sewer started backing up and coming out of the drain and running on the ground. The office stunk like cat urine. We sadly will never go back.

We had a pretty good experience here, compared to many of the other reviews. Would give it a 3.5 if that were available. We strongly suggest getting there in time to view and choose your site, as some are not as good as others. (Office closes at 5pm). We strongly suggest getting there in time to view and choose your site, as some are not as good as others. (Office closes at 5pm). We reserved a spot via telephone and arrived after the office closed. There had been an obvious sewer backup there so we went to the office and found the managers number. She said it was fine for us to stay on another spot which we had already looked at and so we did. That night the maintenance guy spoke with us and said we would have to move in the morning as the spot we chose was already reserved the next day. In the morning we went to office and got a new spot assigned for the next few days. We spotted them out and found one we liked and moved over. They were nice at the office. We also noticed they had already cleaned up the spot we had originally reserved by the time we were up and about. The park does look a little trashy in areas, especially around the permanent and semi permanent sites. But everyone we met along the way was friendly. Some of the spots dont allow for a very good view. The spots are all really crammed in and around each other in areas and there is a huge area that is just storage of parked RVs, some in disrepair. Our door left us looking out, about 20 feet from the side of a permanent trailer, our neighbor and similar on the other side, although they were in a travel set up like us. Again, if you arrive early and spy out your spot you could do better. We did not venture to the laundry or bathrooms so can not comment on those. Overall, not a bad experience.

We always stay here if we have a RV, the people are very kind. Flowers are in bloom at this time, it's a great place if you need to get away from the heat. Saturday morning at 830am they will have coffee and donuts for everyone. Most people have been coming here for more than 10 years so it's a great place. They have bathrooms and a shower for men and women. We love Kit Carson.

Down and out former trailer park looking place, with no hope of a future. Paid $57 for one night, and not worth a dime. Uneven, non-level curved site surrounded by storage RVs, run down travel trailers, dilapidated park models and depression. Bathrooms and laundry are outdated plywood shacks that were never cleaned, painted in garish colors meant to fool you into thinking someone cared. 50 amp FHU... Even with the Jack's down.
