Located at 1500 South Apache Road, this resort provides convenient access to both the natural attractions of central Arizona and the urban amenities of the greater Phoenix region.

Buckeye has experienced significant growth over recent years, transforming from a small rural community into a vibrant suburban area while maintaining its friendly, small-town character. The town's strategic location places it approximately 35 miles west of downtown Phoenix, making it an ideal stopping point for travelers heading to or from California, or those looking to explore Arizona's diverse landscapes. The lower desert elevation around Buckeye means pleasant winter weather, with mild temperatures making it a popular destination for snowbirds and winter travelers seeking to escape harsher northern climates.

The surrounding area offers plenty to explore. Hiking enthusiasts will find numerous trails in the nearby desert, while history buffs can visit local museums and historic sites that showcase Arizona's rich heritage. Lake Pleasant Regional Park, located to the north, provides water recreation opportunities including boating, fishing, and scenic views. The area is also known for its farm-to-table dining experiences, with several farms and agricultural operations that have become popular agritourism destinations.

For those interested in outdoor adventures, the Sonoran Desert landscape provides stunning scenery and wildlife viewing opportunities. Birdwatchers particularly enjoy this region, as the diverse desert ecosystem attracts numerous species throughout the year. The proximity to Phoenix means that travelers can easily access world-class restaurants, shopping, golf courses, and cultural attractions while still enjoying the peaceful, spacious feeling of desert camping.

Pro: Nice dog runs. Nice playground for the kids. Okay pool. No air traffic. Minimal highway noise. Picnic table at sites. Paved streets but old. Sites mostly level. Con: Old machines in laundry. Lots of “stuff” stored in and around many sites giving it an overall junky appearance. No pads in spaces, just raked sand. Tenants can be noise makers with souped up trucks and motor bikes. Mostly travel... Pro: Nice dog runs. Nice playground for the kids. Okay pool. No air traffic. Minimal highway noise. Picnic table at sites. Paved streets but old. Sites mostly level. We checked in yesterday and are very happy so far. Everyone is very nice, very clean and you can tell they take pride in their rv park. Bathrooms clean, pool great and clean sites, quiet, playground, and pickleball/tennis court. We have been to a lot of RV parks traveling through the 44/50 states so far. I would recommend checking them out and make your own opinion.

We tried to stay there in November 2025. I would not recommend! Spaces are very tight, and the little chid next to us was apparently allowed to shoot her compound bow, right next to our brand new truck . They offered us a full refund because we left the park. It’s now February 2026 and I’m still waiting on my money. What a disappointment. Will never go back there. Ridiculous!

We have stayed at 2 other Sun Outdoors properties & this 1 is disappointing. No activities at the Club House/Community Center. The other 2 properties had game nights, bingo etc. The pool isn't heated. In talking to others that stay here, this place has gone down hill!

Have stayed at several Sun Outdoor properties and have always enjoyed the facilities as we have found them to be top notch. Unfortunately Leaf Verde is not one of these. Leaf Verde is not a “Resort” by any means and nothing more than a trailer park in the desert. Full of permanent residences with storage sheds, dog pens, run down vehicles, and other unsightly items attached to their trailers. Staff was very friendly and felt sorry for them as they had to pick up trash and dog feces left everywhere including the play areas for the kids. After it rained our site reeked of dog urine. Nothing against the residence that live there, but Sun Outdoors needs to remove resort and rename it a trailer park so you know what you are reserving, especially at the price being charged per night. They also need to update the photos since the ones they use are from many years ago. This park is surrounded by houses. Would avoid staying here.
