About Meteor Crater RV Park

Campground in Arizona.

Located in the heart of Arizona's high desert country, this RV park offers a unique base for exploring one of the most fascinating geological wonders in the American Southwest. The area surrounding the park sits at an elevation that provides cooler temperatures than lower desert regions, making it an appealing destination during Arizona's hotter months. The landscape here is characterized by the distinctive terrain of northern Arizona's plateau country, where wide open spaces and clear skies create that quintessential Southwest camping atmosphere.

The primary draw of visiting this area is the remarkable natural wonder that gives the park its name. Meteor Crater is an impressive impact site that has captivated visitors and scientists alike for generations. The crater itself tells an incredible story of Earth's geological history, and visiting this attraction provides perspective on the dynamic forces that have shaped our planet. Beyond the crater, the surrounding region offers plenty of exploration opportunities for those interested in geology, natural history, and outdoor adventure.

For RV travelers, this location serves as an excellent hub for discovering Arizona's diverse attractions and landscapes. The region is well-positioned for day trips to various points of interest throughout northern Arizona. Outdoor enthusiasts will find numerous opportunities for hiking, photography, and scenic drives through some of Arizona's most beautiful terrain. The high desert environment creates stunning sunrise and sunset displays, and the elevation provides stargazing opportunities with minimal light pollution.

The park's location makes it suitable for a variety of travelers. Families enjoy the educational aspects of visiting geological sites and exploring the natural wonders of the region. Retirees appreciate the comfortable temperatures and relaxed pace of RV park living combined with accessible attractions. Adventure seekers use it as a staging point for exploring the broader Arizona landscape. History buffs and geology enthusiasts find the area particularly rewarding, with opportunities to learn about both the dramatic geological events and the human history of Arizona's high country.

Whether you're planning a quick overnight stop or a longer stay to fully explore the area, this location provides convenient access to one of Arizona's most distinctive natural features while offering the comfort and amenities expected from an established RV park. The combination of an iconic attraction, beautiful high desert scenery, and a convenient location makes this a noteworthy destination for RV travelers exploring Arizona.

Friendly staff, very clean shower house, nice and quiet, super convenient to Meteor Crater. Beautiful views and stars at night. It’s a naturally windy area - we had sustained winds of 40 mph, and we were told this is normal for the area.

We stopped for one night as we were passing through so my review is not based on any amenities or facilities. It’s gated. It’s clean and sites were pretty level. This is off season I think, so we and other travelers around us didn’t even unhitch. We were in site 26 and the freeway noise wasn’t bad. We forgot to turn on noise machine and slept fine. Worked for us.

Not the best stay. We have a dog so they made us stay closest to the interstate with a long walk to the bathrooms bc that's where they put their dog walk, even though there were many open spots away from all the noise. You will hear trucks & trains all night long. Even having my white noise turned all the way up, I still heard the noise. They gave us paperwork which states there's a clubhouse code... Except there is no way to use a code. We went wandering around at night trying our best to find a way in but there's no keypad or anything at any of the 3 doors to the clubhouse. When I asked about this the next morning, the woman at the desk says, it's only open from 9-5. So I say, then if you lock it & unlock it, why is there a code listed? The extremely rude woman then says she has a call & cannot continue this conversation. Although they do have nice bathrooms & showers, it's not cheap at $63/night. For us, it wasn't a good stay for the money.

Fenced in dog area was perfect so we could let our dog stretch her legs a bit. Biggest 5 star point from us is that the pull through site was long enough to accommodate our RV towing our jeep on a trailer (about 58ft in length total)-not having to disconnect for a quick overnight is a huge bonus to us!! Sites were super clean and hook-ups were good. Water pressure was a little low...but worked just fine.
