About Wahweap Campground & RV Park

Federal campground in Arizona.

Wahweap Campground & RV Park offers an exceptional Arizona camping experience nestled in one of the Southwest's most captivating regions. Located in Page, Arizona, this well-established park serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring some of the most stunning natural wonders in the United States. The area surrounding the park is characterized by dramatic red rock formations, expansive desert landscapes, and access to world-class water recreation opportunities that make it a destination for travelers from across the country.

The primary draw for many visitors to this area is the proximity to Lake Powell, a massive reservoir known for its crystalline blue waters contrasting beautifully against towering sandstone cliffs. Water enthusiasts can enjoy boating, fishing, and water sports, while those seeking more leisurely experiences can take scenic lake cruises or simply relax along the shoreline. The lake's unique geography, created by the Glen Canyon Dam, offers countless coves, inlets, and beaches to explore throughout the year.

Beyond the lake, the region offers remarkable opportunities for outdoor exploration. Antelope Canyon, one of Arizona's most photographed natural attractions, is nearby and famous for its narrow slot canyon formations and the ethereal light beams that filter through its heights. Rainbow Bridge National Monument, accessible primarily by water from Lake Powell, represents another iconic destination that draws photographers and nature lovers. For those interested in geology and hiking, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area provides numerous trails ranging from easy walks to more challenging backcountry adventures.

The town of Page itself has developed into a welcoming gateway community with restaurants, shops, and services to meet travelers' needs. The area experiences four distinct seasons, with spring and fall offering particularly pleasant weather for outdoor activities. Summer months bring warm days ideal for water recreation, while winter's cooler temperatures and clearer skies appeal to those seeking a peaceful desert retreat and excellent stargazing opportunities.

Whether you're planning an extended stay to thoroughly explore the region or a shorter stopover on a larger road trip, Wahweap Campground & RV Park provides convenient access to experiences that have made northern Arizona a premier RV destination. The combination of natural attractions, recreational opportunities, and the genuine warmth of the local community creates memorable camping experiences for families, couples, outdoor enthusiasts, and adventure seekers.

Very nice area to camp. Clean, large sites and spread out. Each circle area has its own bathrooms/showers. Great views of the lake and scenery. Make sure to see the rising sun! Very pretty! The campsites are uphill from the convenience store/registration office and the store is uphill from the shore. It’s a good walk.

Loved it. I did wonder why with the heat and no trees that they don't have picnic table covers. Any thing would be helpful especially on those days when its super windy. Free showers to campers. Just make sure you put three coins in at once!!

Showers do require tokens ($2 for 15 minutes), which you can get from the camp store. The camp store itself is well-stocked with everything you might need — from snacks to camping supplies and souvenirs — though prices are on the higher side, so it’s good to plan ahead if you’re on a budget. The campground layout offers a good mix of privacy and beautiful views, especially near Lake Powell. It’s a fantastic location for exploring the area. Overall, highly recommend if you’re looking for a comfortable and scenic camping experience!

We arrived on November 7th for two nights. We paid $60 per night, and on top of that, $3 for an 8-minute shower — and we were four people. The showers were in terrible condition: dirty, rusty, with broken shower heads or barely any water pressure. Out of seven showers, only three were open, and none of them were clean. We paid $60 per night, and on top of that, $3 for an 8-minute shower — and we were four people. The showers were in terrible condition: dirty, rusty, with broken shower heads or barely any water pressure. Out of seven showers, only three were open, and none of them were clean. The front desk service was indifferent and unprofessional. We asked where we could empty our RV tanks, and they directed us to a dump station that was closed for the season. The staff was unable to tell us where else we could go. We ended up paying $15 at another campground to dump our tanks, only to find out later that the Wahweap sites actually have their own dump stations — something the front desk failed to mention. So we basically paid $15 for nothing. We also wanted to do laundry but got confused because there are two different coin systems — one for the showers and another for the laundry. When we explained the situation, the front desk made no effort to help or exchange the coins, so we lost another $3. We’re on a road trip and this was our fifth stop — by far the worst experience. Very disappointing overall. Fortunately, the natural surroundings were absolutely stunning, which was the only redeeming part of our stay. Definitely a campground to avoid!

Nice views of Lake Powell. Campsites are open and lack shade. Showers require special currency.
