The campground's coastal setting means you're never far from the Pacific Ocean. The surrounding area is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, pristine beaches, and temperate rainforest scenery. Clam Beach itself is known for its tide pools and sandy shores, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and families looking to explore California's wild coastline. The climate is typically mild year-round, though visitors should come prepared for coastal fog and occasional rain, even during summer months.

Being located in Humboldt County opens up numerous exploration opportunities. The region is home to the famous Redwood National and State Parks, where you can experience some of the tallest trees on Earth. Nearby communities like Fortuna and Rio Dell provide supplies, dining, and local services. The area attracts visitors interested in hiking, beachcombing, wildlife viewing, and experiencing old-growth forests. The reduced crowds also mean better stargazing opportunities on clear nights and a more relaxed pace overall.

Such friendly and helpful hosts on site. And the overall experience was amazing. We had a pop up camper and they allowed us perfect location to set up. Met some other campers while staying for 2 days. People were friendly and gave us helpful tips on what to visit while there. And the beach access was literally outside our door. Super cool location and area. Me and my son found dozens of sand dolla... Such friendly and helpful hosts on site. And the overall experience was amazing. And the beach access was literally outside our door. Super cool location and area. Me and my son found dozens of sand dollars in the early morning. Not to mention all the cool stones and rocks we found. Just an amazing place to stay if you need a over night stay. Or up to 3 day stay. We'd recommend this place anyone. And thanks to the workers keeping plenty of toilet tissue in the bathrooms. :)

Clam Beach is a special place for me. It’s raw, peaceful, and powerful in a way that’s hard to explain. This is also where I started taking photos, moments like the one I just shared. Simple, wild, and beautiful. Always worth coming back.

Great spot to stop and tent camp for the night. The camp hosts are very sweet. Beach is close by trail. I would say the only downside is that it is near the airport, and they do have a few larger planes departing from them. It is close to the highway, but it's not that noisy.

Good vanlife campgrounds. Not a great spot to pitch a tent tho. Restrooms are locked at night so you may have to go drop a duce on a sand dune somewhere. Once the 101 quiets down about 11pm, the sound of the ocean is restful
