The campground is really close by but still feels disconnected from the outside world. Some sites are pretty small, but if you do get a chance to get a site near the water, it's so worth it. the water is nice and cool to dip your feet in and easily accessible. I've camped here a few times and here are some major tips I wish I knew before coming. Keep in mind, I've only camped a few times, so take... I've camped here a few times and here are some major tips I wish I knew before coming. Keep in mind, I've only camped a few times, so take my advice with a grain of salt. - Checkout time is at 2pm, so don't worry too much about getting there super early. Most people will leave by then or even a little after. - From what I've seen, some sites have been reserved, but it seems rare. It's mostly first come, first serve. - Restrooms are somewhat clean. Do try to go #2 before you camp. - Camp sites are pretty close together with most being right next to each other. - There is access to clean pipe water that I think is drinkable (read the post at the entrance of the camp). I still brought my own drinking water, but used the pipe water to wash. Bear Advice: - There WILL be a bear (if its not hibernating). I've been here 3 times and have encountered the bear every time. - DO NOT HAVE FOOD IN OR NEAR YOUR TENT. Put everything in your car by sunset. - Scare the bear by banging pots and pans or using flashlights and throwing rocks at its feet (not directly at it). - If you can, stand your ground. Gain distance, act big and be loud. If you let it eat your food, it will definitely come back and be nosy during the middle of the night. - If you hear the bear while you're sleeping, just lie still. It's only interest is food and if you actually put all the food away, then it will know that it's useless to come back to no food. Also, no one wants to hear multiple car alarms in the middle of the night. - side note, I removed all food from my backpack but it was still interested in it due to lingering smells. Put these away too. - If the bear goes to your site and discovers no food, it might not snoop around again, but it might come back if it was successful with your neighbors food. - It's favorite food is chocolate. It skipped all my meats and dinner and went straight for my chocolate chip cookies that I was saving for dessert ): That being said, I think this is a nice campground with quick and easy access. grab a chair, a good book, and sit in the river. The only downsides I see are the bear and the fact that the campsites are very close to each other.

The campground was nice and affordable and close to LA. It's first come first serve, dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash. There was a bit of trash around, but overall, it's a nice place to camp if you need accommodations close to Los Angeles. There is a nice stream to cool off in and some nice plant life.

A busy camp site during the summer months, went middle of July arrived around 11am and 2 spots were available ( site 15, and 16 ). 2/3 of the sites have a lot of shade, and the rest not so much. Had a tarp so that helped. The creek is very nice and cold so that helps to cool you off. They have non-flush toilets, fire rings at every site. I do not recommend site 15 in the summer, site 16 had some... Bear did visit the camp grounds, and went through trash that someone left next to the trash can ( don't be that guy, and put your trash in the trash can) 🙄. Camp site also gets busy with groups using it just for the day. A lot of trash is also left behind, I spent most of the morning picking up trash and putting it IN the trash can. Pack it in and pack it out.

Dang I love this place. What makes this place so special is that there a all year round flowing creek shaded with Elms and so much foliage and special plants. The campgrounds however are very close to each other, so yes, no privacy or immune to not so quiet campers. It’s a small number of campgrounds with 3 loops. It is first come first serve, so definitely plan when no holidays or during the summer for sure. Here is my dilemma though. Sadly most people who come here much like other areas that have water, there is so much trash everywhere including in the creeks. Which means, it’s a constant place for Bear encounters which I personally experienced having one bear actually walking up in my sleep and pull at my hair. I’m not one to panico but clearly the bears here are so used to humans leaving foods out and NOT secure. I DO NOT leave any of my foods out and are secured in my vehicle. Which means this bear was Way to darn curious as to why I sleep on the ground in the open. Oh, a tent won’t stop a bear if you leave foods out exposed near you or in your tents.
