This was an excellent campground. There were many trails all of them absolutely beautiful. The firing helped and it's very secluded with a small town. About 15 people nearby. There is no cell service And to be sureto bring all your own supplies. If you follow the Creek you will find trout. They're small but it's absolutely gorgeous. How do great time? Love this place and have visited multiple times. Just visited during Presidents Day, and despite multiple road closures, we decided to trust our instincts over the GPS and take the usual route. If we had followed the GPS, it would have sent us all the way up to Taft, only to loop back to a section where a chunk of the road is actually missing. As others have mentioned, you can still get there from... Love this place and have visited multiple times. As others have mentioned, you can still get there from the other side by driving on the shoulder. For the best route I highly recommend: • Going through Frazier Park • Turning left onto Lockwood Valley Rd • Entering Camp Scheideck Road into your GPS (it will be on your left) Your gps will constantly try to reroute you but the roads were clear. We made it to the camp ground without any issues despite being in a low clearance Volkswagen GTI. We grabbed wood at gas station at Frazier park ($6 each) but the host sells bundles for $10 each. There’s plenty of hiking and highly recommend sunny spots during the winter months. It got pretty cold at night so pack accordingly. We blew through 6 bundles the first night. The hosts are friendly and kind. Happy camping!

Been coming here for years and I must say the newer improvements such as a camp host has made all the difference. Respectful quiet hours are now implemented 10pm- 6am. The bathrooms are maintained and cleanly. Resources and local information is abundant with the host. Additionally the camp hasn't changed over the past 15 years. Plenty of water in the creek for fish to live. Clean water runs continuously. Reserved spots are not available. (Although i was lucky enough to snag one that was open mid-week.) The hiking trails are a true test to experience level, inviting all levels of expertise. Minimal rock climbing potential. All in all a wonderful trip complete with "rental dogs" from Camp Sheideck's residence who have the kindest and friendliest of pups who came to visit for treats. Highly recommend. Best kept secret of the area. Just be sure to anticipate the heat and be prepared to need chase in the day and heaters for the night. This location gets extremely temperature variations.

You'll be about 40 minutes away from any store, so pack everything you're going to need for your time there, or expect to spend two hours for any trip you need to take. There is no water or electricity at the sites, however, there is a creek that runs along the campground and I filled up all the water I needed from this creek, and yes, I treated the water before I used it. The hosts we're really cool and always around for anything you need them for. They keep the campground very clean and they sell firewood there, $10 - $15 per bundle. It was fully booked the weekend I went but I was fortunate enough to get a first come site, and it was a large site, with a nice shady area to site and had a nice view of the surrounding mountain. Not the best place for hiking, but I was limited to where I could go, since I brought my 110 lb bulldog with me, and he's good for about 2 miles max. I'm sure there are more trails to explore. If you are interested in joining in any hikes, you can find my hikes on the "Meet Up" app under the group "Five Miles or More Hiking Group" with the times and places I'll be going. Enjoy your hiking.
