About Hirz Bay Public Boat Ramp
Located on the McCloud Arm of Shasta Lake, the Hirz Bay boat ramp is paved and has three (3) ramps for varying lake levels. A three lane ramp is in service until 75 feet drawdown, a two lane ramp until 95 feet drawdown. The launch ramp parking lot has 61 paved spaces with lighting and a courtesy dock. This boat ramp is part of the Hirz Bay recreation complex which includes Hirz Bay campground, Hirz Bay trail and Hirz Bay group camps 1 and 2.
Hirz Bay Public Boat Ramp offers a unique camping experience for those seeking access to California's pristine waterways and a genuine connection with nature. Located in a scenic area known for its natural beauty, this public campground provides an ideal basecamp for water enthusiasts, fishing lovers, and anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The location makes it particularly attractive for boaters and anglers who want convenient access to excellent fishing opportunities. The boat ramp facility serves as the main draw for visitors, making this an outstanding choice if you're planning to bring your own watercraft or spend significant time on the water. Whether you're interested in bass fishing, exploring scenic waterways, or simply enjoying peaceful mornings by the water, this campground positions you perfectly for water-based adventures.
Beyond the water activities, the surrounding area offers the kind of California landscape that draws visitors year-round. The natural setting provides opportunities for hiking, wildlife observation, and photography. The quieter, more laid-back atmosphere of a public boat ramp facility appeals to travelers who prefer a more rustic camping experience over heavily developed RV parks with numerous amenities.
This campground works wonderfully for self-sufficient RV travelers who bring everything they need and want to focus their vacation around water recreation rather than on-site entertainment and facilities. Families planning fishing trips, retired couples seeking peaceful getaways, and adventure seekers looking to explore California's waterways will find this location particularly rewarding.
The casual, no-frills nature of the facility means you'll often meet fellow water enthusiasts and local anglers who are happy to share tips about the best fishing spots and seasonal patterns. It's the kind of place where you become part of a community of people who genuinely love being on the water and exploring nature's offerings. Coming here means prioritizing authentic outdoor experiences and the simple pleasures of waterside camping.
