We loved this campground and definitely will be returning! We were there the first weekend of Oktoberfest, and the weather was perfect. Not all of the campsites had people at it, which was a pleasant surprise being that it’s Helen’s busiest weekend of the year. I don’t recall any camper trailers, just tents, which I enjoyed, as trailers tend to bring with them extra noise and harsh lights. It was... It was along low gap creek, which was really nice to listen to at night. The sites were a bit spaced out from each other (~50 ft from each other) but we were still near others, so keep in mind you are not secluded. The bathrooms are toilet only, no flushing, and we couldn’t figure out how to use the water, though others seemed to figure it out. Dog friendly. You do have a fairly large area to put up a tent, rather than a tiny space like some other campgrounds. *With Google Maps, the location was really hard to find. We drove an extra 40 minutes through the forest because maps told us to turn right at the “Low Gap Campground” sign, but you are supposed to turn LEFT.

This a quite and restful campground off the beaten path with many camping spots next to Low Gap Creek. Note, they have removed bear boxes, trash cans and there is no longer a camp host. So, pack it in and pack it out is the moto here, please plan accordingly! Also, the chemical toilets were locked on our last visit in September 2017, I am unsure if this is permanent or was temporary as we visit... Spent a night. Clearly marked spots, with fire rings and pads. Trash box on camp ground. The bathroom are across the river, so no walking to them. They were being cleaned when we left. The road up did need high clearance vehicles, some decent washout spots. Overall, it is a hidden gem. Very quiet, away from civilization.
