I have been going here since I was a kid so my review may be slightly partial :) If you want to camp, remember it is only seasonally open. If it is closed you can still walk in, around, and down the river! The main campground is flat, shaded, and great all around for families and a variety of vehicle sizes. Across the street from the main campground is an alternative with more elevation changes... Across the street from the main campground is an alternative with more elevation changes but may require 4 wheel or All wheel drive. Recently I went back to experience the rock water slides which is about a 15 minute walk down stream from both campgrounds. Go in early October when the water is lower so that you can slide down the river rock without getting pushed too far. Just beyond those slides is a waterfall and swimming pools(if you can trek the hike down/around). If you like rare plants, see if you can find a Snow Plant in May. Have fun and remember your experience for decades!

CLOSED as of 24JUL20. “Dispersed Area 5” isn’t blockaded and had a group who seemed to be having a great time. Trail/hike to falls is very short. Some spots a bit steep, sandy... but pretty easy to get to. Cool area. Pools & falls are pretty & fun.

I was the camp host at lower peppermint. This is a great campground with lots of hikes, waterfalls, fishing and other sights to see in the vicinity. The natural spring water may or may not be working when you get there, but the creek will flow all year. Great spot to check out!

It is on the rustic side with only vault toilets available. For a short stay, it was fine.
