Ukiah is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
California weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Ukiah.
Don't miss local attractions near Ukiah. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

It's a nice all pavement campground, and for large trailers a few pull through sites. There is water spickets and vault toilets no power or water hook ups

This is my absolute favorite place on Earth. I love it. Two weeks ago I was wading with tons of huge tadpoles, today they were frogs. I am going to volunteer for the ranger station if let me.

We clean up after selves, and respect the sound ordinance. That being said, you'll be comforted from sunnrise to sunset by the Waaaaps & Braaaaaps of your fellow campers. The night sky is magnificent here. Nothing compares. Keep in mind you are among the forest here, your food may be raided buy furry friends, and you are likely to hear the bobcats and bats. The Rangers do an amazing job of taking care of CC & penny pines, so do your part also. Pack it in, pack it out, and there are dumpsters for the rest. Do your part. There are bathrooms, with running water, however there are not showers. There are water spickets at every site, if you need a cold bucket wash. There is a little something for every level of rider. There is a small fenced in riding area for newbies & littles. The riverbed is a playground for every level. There are woops, side trails, and trails that connect to the top of the mountain where all of the connecting trails are. The riverbed to mountain connecting trails are blacks, so keep that in mind. If you are, or have a new rider it may be safer to drive up, park, and ride the top. Or just Camp at penny pines. Up top the trails connect the entire mountain from penny pines to stony Ford, and more. There are a lot of blues, and few greens, and of course blacks. The trails are all way trails, and are all clearly marked, but having a map saved on your phone or in your pack is a good idea. Cell service is not available. There are a few spots that you can stand at the bottom of the mountain, but there is not service up top. Happy camping & riding!!!

The campground is clean and the bathrooms are tidy and don't stink. I like to walk along the creek with the frogs and tadpols. I love the scenery and Elk Mountain is open!!! Yay!
