About Mission Farm Campground

Campground in California.

Mission Farm Campground offers a peaceful escape in the heart of San Juan Bautista, California, a region steeped in history and natural beauty. Located at 400 San Juan Hollister Road, this public campground provides travelers with an ideal base for exploring one of California's most charming historic towns and the surrounding Monterey County landscape.

San Juan Bautista is best known as the home of Mission San Juan Bautista, a stunning Spanish mission founded in 1797 that stands as one of the largest in the California mission system. The mission remains the centerpiece of the town and offers visitors a glimpse into California's colonial heritage. The town itself has preserved much of its 19th-century character, with historic adobe buildings, authentic saloons, and period-appropriate structures that transport you back in time. Walking through the town square feels like stepping into another era, making it a wonderful destination for history enthusiasts and families alike.

Beyond the mission and town exploration, the area offers plenty of natural attractions. The rolling hills and agricultural landscapes surrounding San Juan Bautista showcase California's farming heritage and provide scenic opportunities for nature walks and photography. The region's mild climate makes it comfortable for camping throughout much of the year, with warm days and cool evenings that create pleasant conditions for outdoor activities.

Mission Farm Campground's location makes it convenient for day trips to nearby attractions. Pinnacles National Park is within reasonable driving distance, offering dramatic rock formations, hiking trails, and wildlife viewing opportunities. The campground serves as an excellent jumping-off point for exploring the Salinas Valley and the broader Central Coast region.

The campground appeals to a wide range of travelers: history buffs interested in California's mission heritage, families seeking educational and cultural experiences, nature lovers exploring the California backcountry, and anyone looking for a quiet, authentic small-town experience away from coastal crowds. Whether you're interested in hiking, historical sites, or simply enjoying small-town California charm, Mission Farm Campground provides a welcoming base for your RV adventure.

Very nice lady at the office. Entrance looks really nice. Wifi works well at the office, not in the park. There is tent camping possible. I saw three tents on a nice piece of grass under some trees. Toilets and showers are dated, but clean. We stayed one night in our RV with full hookup for about 60 dollars. There is no pool or playground. I would guess that 75% of the spots are rented long-term.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The trees are abundant, and it feels like you are in the mountains. Very convenient location to visit Old San Juan Bautista. Quiet location, and we met some friendly full-timers in the park. Many pull through spots. We will go back for sure.

The location is in a very nice part of San Juan Bautista. When you come to the front of the RV park, it looks like it has a really cute Western theme, which is very nice. There are lots of trees, so it's like you're in a forest, but as you drive through the trailer park, you realize there are a lot of long-term residents and they don't really have standards as to the condition of the spaces or trailers. So many old junkie trailers, some even with graffiti on them. Looks a little satanic and scary. I would not feel comfortable/safe walking around this place with my dog. If they cleaned up the area and trailer spaces and up'd their standards for entry, this could be a nice place and a good location - not today though.

It's literally in the middle of nowhere & it's at least 15 miles to any grocery, clothing or department stores of any kind.

This park is a quiet respite from the fast pace of California. Best for 30 foot or less sized RV's, beautifully kept on a daily basis by the handy man on site. Check in is 1-530pm -- you can hear light traffic from the road YET this is the first park where I awoke to birds singing and chirping amongst the beautiful trees around this park. Well established and has enough washers and dryers to me... This park is a quiet respite from the fast pace of California.
