Big Sur is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.
California weather can change quickly. Pack layers and check the forecast for Big Sur.
Don't miss local attractions near Big Sur. Ask the camp host for hidden gems and trails.

A very nice campground. No running water but there is a creek that runs through so if needed you can filter water. There is a store on site and they sell fire wood. Easy to find and locate your spot. Bathrooms are clean and don't smell.

Big Pine Lakes is a beautiful trail. It's well marked and clean. The trail is considered hard. around June or July, the trail is covered with lush vegetation and wild flowers. Being out in nature and being mesmerized by mother nature beauty the trek becomes more bearable. Especially once you reach the lakes, the long challenging trek is well worth it. Absolutely gorgeous campsite. Wanted to get away from the chaos of the city and this is certainly the place! Camping is in a first come, first serve basis. There is a kiosk when you arrive with envelopes to insert the nightly fee (bring cash!). The campground manager lives on site in an RV near the front. Each site also comes with a firepit that includes a removable grill for cooking. There is a creek the runs right next to the campsite and our site was a minute walk from it. The sites gather into the campground are nicely spread apart, so you are not right next to your neighbor. There is a great hiking trail about a 5 minute walk from the grounds. The photos surreal for themselves. Will definitely be visiting again. Oh and speaking of away from the city- this place is definitely off the grid. No cell service!

Beautiful campground surrounded by snow-capped peaks and tall trees with lots of shade. Goid privacy between most sites. Excellent hiking from camp and close to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest for terrific views and more hikes.

Beautiful, quiet campground, with lots of shade. Clean vault toilets, no running water. Look at the campground map and get a site next to the creek 👌.
