This place is not big, only 38 spots but it's amazing. So well maintained, mature trees, free laundry, cleanest bathrooms and showers we've ever seen, surrounded by a golf course. Would definitely stay here again. Rates were very reasonable.

Great location great price. Close to the golf. Has bar and grill on site. Pretty much on the golf course. Only downside is that it's close to an airport and next to the Navy Post Graduate School applied physics lab. They have some facilities that use high speed turbines close by. Very loud. Otherwise, 100% awesome place to stay.

Monterey Pines RV Campground It has water, electric and sewage. Free laundry. Nice shower and warm bathroom. 😊 If you are a Navy veteran, daily rate is $55/ night. Civilian is $95/ night. Easy wheelchair access to restrooms & laundry, but steep. Some pads better than others for wheelchair user. Call for res rather than book online if using walker, wheelchair, or special needs. Follow the rules & don't engage.

We will be back next year.

The campground office/laundry/lounge/bathroom building is tucked in the back corner of the famcamp area. Depending on the size and type of your RV, you may have to get creative with how you back into your spot which is one of 8 spokes in a fairly compact circle. The fampcamp is made up of several of these circles. The main area is all full hookup. There are some outlying areas with dry camping. There is a separate RV dump a few blocks away from the famcamp. Laundry is free. There are two large washers and dryers that do a good job, but due to the length of time it takes to do a load and the number of campers, there is nearly always someone waiting to do laundry. There were a few times during our 9 week stay that we gave up and went to Joy Laundry that is about 5 miles off-base. The commissary and exchange are about a mile away from the famcamp. Also, make sure to take advanage of the two indoor gyms, the outdoor track that has lights at night, the 6-mile roundtrip path through beautiful cattle pasture, the underused community center, free movies, popular bowling alley and active outdoor rec with lots of day trips on their schedule. There's more to do, you just have to find it! Campground hosts and manager are very responsive and helpful. We were disappointed that there is no monthly rate, but at $30/day, it is a deal considering it is California. In fact, that is such a good bargain that many of the campers are active duty. FYI: The Wheatland gate that is suggested due to the commercial entrance is only open during the work week during the day. At the time of our stay, the Schneider gate was the main 24 hour gate. The Vassar Lake gate is also 24 hours, but is not large enough for an RV.

I would personally be willing to pay a little more if it would help get some of the maintenance stuff done quicker. Of course it is up to the base leadership to inject a little capital for maintenance. They are doing some work around the restrooms and the laundry facilities are real good. It is pretty quiet and peaceful for being on an Air Force base. I definitely recommend staying.

They are fully booked full hook up sites so we parked over flow. Yes, its dry camp.... has to run the generaters... or If you have solar, this is the best place cause no shade! I am enjoying sitting outside stitching and drinking water!! In the morning, it is nice and breezy. Clean bathroom, shower, lounge and laundry are close by. So why 3 stars.... it is just hot for dry camping, LOL. Almo... They are fully booked full hook up sites so we parked over flow.
