About Santa Rosa Campground

Campground in California.

Santa Rosa Campground offers RV travelers a welcoming base for exploring the heart of Sonoma County and the greater Northern California region. Nestled in an area rich with natural beauty and cultural attractions, this public campground provides convenient access to some of California's most beloved destinations while offering a comfortable place to rest your rig.

The Santa Rosa area has long been a favorite among RV enthusiasts seeking the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and small-town charm. The region is renowned for its Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and mild winters that make it an appealing destination throughout much of the year. Rolling hills, redwood forests, and scenic byways characterize the landscape, offering stunning backdrops for your camping experience.

One of the greatest appeals of staying at Santa Rosa Campground is the proximity to world-class wineries and wine country experiences. The nearby Sonoma Valley and Russian River Valley are dotted with award-winning vineyards, tasting rooms, and farm-to-table restaurants that showcase local produce and culinary creativity. Many RVers use the campground as their home base for leisurely wine country tours, either self-guided or through organized experiences.

Beyond wine, the area offers excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. Hiking trails wind through redwood groves and state parks, where visitors can experience some of California's most majestic old-growth forests. Clear Lake, California's largest freshwater lake, lies within reasonable driving distance and provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and water-based relaxation. The Russian River itself is perfect for those seeking to cool off during warmer months.

Santa Rosa itself is a vibrant community with a lively downtown featuring local shops, farmers markets, and restaurants that reflect the region's agricultural heritage and culinary sophistication. The Charles M. Schulz Museum is located here, celebrating the legacy of the beloved Peanuts cartoonist who called Sonoma County home.

This campground appeals to wine enthusiasts, nature lovers, retirees seeking a slower pace, families wanting outdoor adventure, and anyone looking to experience the authentic California Wine Country without sacrificing the comfort and convenience of their RV home.

Sonoma County Fairgrounds is a terrific base of operations for us to start or end a trip because we store our rig locally in Santa Rosa, but live out of town in Sea Ranch. The location is perfect for shopping at any number of different stores, and offers good hiking at nearby Taylor Mountain. We appreciate that the facilities are clean and well maintained, that there’s a small dog park, and that the staff are friendly and helpful. The park is a basic place to stay, and our neighbors have always been very quiet and respectful. We’ve even seen mobile RV repairs happening onsite, which is a bonus.

The RV sites are disorganized. There’s 30 amp, 50 amp, back in, pull through level, unlevel. It’s a chaotic mess. If you just want a simple 30 amp back in, you’ll get an uneven sloped hill. If you pay for 50 amp pull through you’ll be satisfied. Location is decent. Wineries are nearby. Felt overcharged for the meagre facilities

We have stayed here many times. This was the best year--service and hospitality were amazing. Giovanni was so helpful and respectful. They have greatly improved the laundry facility and the sites are clean and welcoming.

It's not the kind of RV park I usually stay in, there aren't any trees. But it's clean and quiet. I had a couple days here getting used to my new rig.

Great place to visit! The spaces are large and there is a nice dog park too. Very close to Graton casino and downtown shopping and the wineries are close too. Friendly camp hosts too. We hope to be back soon.
