About Sierra Meadows

Campground in California.

Sierra Meadows offers a serene escape into California's natural beauty, providing RV travelers with the perfect base for exploring the Sierra Nevada region. Nestled in one of California's most picturesque mountain areas, this public campground welcomes visitors seeking authentic outdoor experiences away from crowded commercial parks. The location captures the essence of California's alpine landscapes, with towering forests and mountain vistas that create an almost magical atmosphere, especially during sunrise and sunset.

The surrounding area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking trails of varying difficulty levels crisscross the region, offering everything from gentle nature walks to challenging alpine adventures. Mountain biking opportunities abound for those seeking an adrenaline rush, while anglers will find pristine streams and lakes teeming with trout. In winter, the proximity to ski resorts makes Sierra Meadows an ideal jumping-off point for snow sports enthusiasts. During summer months, the cooler mountain temperatures provide a refreshing contrast to scorching valley heat, making it an excellent choice for those escaping seasonal extreme weather.

Wildlife viewing is exceptional throughout the year. Visitors frequently spot deer, various bird species, and if fortunate, black bears from a safe distance. Photography enthusiasts will find endless opportunities to capture stunning natural scenes, from wildflower meadows in spring to golden aspen groves in autumn. The night sky above Sierra Meadows is remarkably clear, offering incredible stargazing opportunities away from light pollution.

The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions, including scenic byways, historic mining towns, and natural hot springs. Whether you're a serious backpacker planning extended wilderness adventures, a family looking for a relaxing mountain getaway, or a couple seeking peaceful natural surroundings, Sierra Meadows provides the ideal setting. The public campground atmosphere creates a friendly community feel while maintaining the tranquility many RV travelers cherish. This destination appeals to those who value pristine nature, outdoor recreation, and the restorative power of mountain environments.

Also it worked out well that they had EV chargers since we unexpectedly got an EV rental car. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

This property located less than 1.5 hours away from the Yosemite Valley. All of these cabins seemed well maintained and I liked the self check in process. It is awesome that they have a small store on site, which contains most of the things you can imagine. Pricing was definitely reasonable, and will stay again if we ever visit Yosemite again in the future. Highly recommend this place to y'all.

Additionally, on the Expedia profile it is not clear that there are no private bathrooms for the smaller cabins. I didn’t know until after I booked and saw something about a shared bathroom. This is February with a snow storm and rain. Who wants to go outside at night to pee then? They are allowed to have false advertisement but can’t get refund in an emergency.

Great, cozy little getaway! The cabins aren’t too far off the main road and it’s a few minutes away from Oakhurst. The staff was friendly and the cabins are clean and comfy. I would definitely go again!

Amazing experience with Sierra Meadows, really loved the campgrounds and cabin. Stayed in the micro cabin and loved it. very cozy and comfortable. Clean bathrooms, great staff, and very quiet at night. Free bikes to ride on their trails and access to the pool and hot tub, super dog friendly too!
