Had to cleanup all these. If authorities could take action and install the food storage unit in campsite 18 that would make camping experience great. Nevertheless amazing place and would love to camp again in future. Hopefully to get a campsite with proper locker.

My family and I went to Sunset Beach for my birthday getaway. We we're thoroughly impressed. Great location, really beautiful campground. The biggest negative was the raccoons are out of control. Put your stuff away and secure. The boxes provided are not enough. I wedged, firewood against the box doors to keep them out and that worked. Otherwise, they can crack them open and reach in and get what... My family and I went to Sunset Beach for my birthday getaway. We we're thoroughly impressed. I wedged, firewood against the box doors to keep them out and that worked. Otherwise, they can crack them open and reach in and get what is accessible. Yes they got about 50% of are food. But we still had a great time. We laughed our butts off, and there are truly bigger problems in life. We highly recommend Sunset State Beach. We left with great memories.

Extremely popular campground. But the facility is actually not very good and the weather will be super cold if on windy or cloudy days. The beachside is super good and is very close to the campground. I would say here is not that good… I booked here by a chance actually and also because here is very close to my house. Otherwise, many other lake side campgrounds can be better than this one.

This is one of our favorite places to camp by the coast among cypresses near the dunes. Conveniently located with beach access. Clean and spacious sites but be prepared for wind gusts in open areas. Bathrooms are clean but need soap and hand towels. Still, a great getaway for the weekend. Awesome sunsets and sunrises.
