About South Lake Tulloch R.V. Campground & Marina

Campground in California.

South Lake Tulloch RV Campground & Marina offers a perfect blend of water recreation and mountain tranquility in California's Gold Country. Located in Jamestown, this lakeside destination puts you right on the shores of beautiful Lake Tulloch, a 55-mile-long reservoir nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Whether you're seeking adventure or peaceful relaxation, this campground serves as an ideal base for exploring one of Northern California's most scenic regions.

The location itself is a major draw for water enthusiasts. Lake Tulloch is renowned for excellent fishing opportunities, with anglers regularly enjoying success with bass, catfish, and crappie. The calm, clear waters also invite boating, swimming, and water sports throughout the year. If you have a boat or are interested in renting one, the on-site marina makes accessing the water incredibly convenient. Simply back into your site and you're ready for a day on the water.

Beyond the lake, Jamestown and the surrounding area offer rich Gold Rush history and authentic Sierra Nevada charm. The charming town of Jamestown, just a short drive away, features historic buildings, local shops, and restaurants that capture the spirit of California's mining era. For those interested in history and culture, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is nearby, offering visitors a chance to explore vintage locomotives and learn about the region's railroad heritage.

The natural beauty of the foothills provides excellent opportunities for hiking, scenic drives, and wildlife watching. The nearby Stanislaus National Forest offers numerous trails and outdoor experiences for those wanting to venture beyond the campground. Sunrise and sunset views over the lake are spectacular year-round, and the area experiences four distinct seasons, each offering its own appeal to visitors.

The region is perfect for families looking to combine camping with water activities, couples seeking a romantic getaway, and outdoor enthusiasts wanting to explore California's Mother Lode country. Fall brings comfortable temperatures and beautiful foliage, while spring offers wildflower displays across the hillsides. Summer is ideal for water activities, and even winter provides mild weather compared to higher elevations. This is truly a destination where you can disconnect from daily life while still enjoying modern conveniences and nearby attractions that make every camping trip memorable.

Been coming here for years, it has big largemouth bass, very large trophy trout and large brown trout. It's a sleeper for all these species and you will have to do your time to unlock the secrets to this gem of a fishery.
