About Three Peaks Camp

Campground in California.

Three Peaks Camp offers a stunning mountain camping experience in California's scenic backcountry, making it an ideal destination for RV travelers seeking adventure, natural beauty, and a genuine connection with the outdoors. Nestled in a picturesque alpine setting, this public campground provides the perfect base camp for exploring some of California's most impressive landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities.

The location is exceptional for those who love hiking, with multiple trailheads accessible directly from or near the campground. The three peaks that give this camp its name offer varying difficulty levels, so whether you're a seasoned mountaineer or a casual day hiker, there's something for everyone. The area's elevation provides relief during hot California summers, and the cooler mountain air makes for comfortable sleeping conditions even during the warmer months. Early mornings bring crisp, fresh air and the sights and sounds of alpine wildlife, while evenings offer spectacular sunset views over the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Families appreciate Three Peaks Camp for its combination of accessibility and authentic camping atmosphere. Children can safely explore nearby areas, splash in mountain streams, and learn about nature in a protected environment. The campground's public nature means it maintains reasonable rates while still offering necessary amenities for RV travelers. The relatively modest crowds compared to heavily developed private parks means you'll experience a more peaceful, authentic camping adventure.

The surrounding region offers diverse attractions for those wanting to venture beyond the campground. Nearby towns provide supplies, fuel, and dining options, while the natural environment serves as the primary entertainment. Photography enthusiasts will find endless opportunities to capture dramatic mountain scenery, wildflowers during bloom season, and wildlife in their natural habitat. The night skies are remarkably clear in this location, making stargazing an unforgettable experience away from light pollution.

Three Peaks Camp is perfect for RV travelers who prioritize natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and a more rustic camping experience over luxury amenities. Whether you're planning a long weekend escape or a week-long mountain retreat, this campground delivers the California mountain experience many RV enthusiasts seek.

Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are a mix of pavement and gravel. Our site, A20, was a gravel based pull thru that was plenty long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30/50 amp, water and sewer only) were to the left side. Distancing is fair for a rural park. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier that in time will provide some nice privacy. Each site has a table and a very nice fire pit and charcoal grill. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was very well groomed, clean and a pleasure to see. There is NO park included wifi or cable TV. We did not find any OTA channels. Satellite should not be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean and modern. There are pools (closed during our stay) laundromat (but NO table to fold cloths), games room, lounge with TV two grassed dog runs, pickle ball court, garbage pickup at site, golf cart rentals and a small store. There are no restaurants within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be a very pleasant base to use while touring the Blue Ridge Parkway. overnighter. We paid $68.00 per night and we feel we received fair value. We will be back if in the area again.

We stayed here for a 3 day weekend! Kids enjoyed the playground, and the views around the campground were really fantastic! The river access spot was also pretty special, we spent some time there with the kids! Store is super cute and the people running everything were friendly and helpful! We would definitely come back!

This is a fairly new campground. It is still a work in progress. There are trees planted, but currently no shade. Campsites are gravel as is the roads throughout the campground. Happy camping y'all.

We also enjoyed the pickleball court—it was a fun and unexpected bonus! Long walks through the campground were relaxing and gave us plenty of time to soak in the fresh air and the absolutely stunning mountain views all around. This resort is well-kept, welcoming, and has so many thoughtful touches that made our trip memorable. We can’t wait to come back!
