Cambria is popular during peak season. Reserve 2-4 weeks in advance for weekends and holidays.
Most parks have check-in after 1:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. Call ahead if you'll arrive late.

Weekend overnight stay, full campground. Nice location, beautiful sunrise, clean, and quiet at night. My pup enjoyed it- always on leash same as other dogs,. Basic pit toilets weren’t too bad, and water available. First time here and I plan to come back for a longer weekday stay. Close to many local places we like to visit including Fiscallini Ranch Preserve and the Cayucos area.

Nice dry campground. Pit toilets, but showers nearby at adjacent campground. High enough up to see but of ocean over the shubs (site w236). Slight right slope (5"). Cool seeing family of vultures overhead. Tons of ground squirrels. Bikes are not allowed on trails despite what Google maps says. We tried it and regretted it. Very foggy and cold even in July. Had one good day, mostly in the 60s. Will... Nice dry campground. Pit toilets, but showers nearby at adjacent campground. High enough up to see but of ocean over the shubs (site w236). This is my go to place on the Central Coast. Reasonable rates, especially if you are self-contained. There are pit toilets and water spigots around the campground. It sits on a little hill. AT&T cell service works up here while it didn't at the lower campground when I stayed there before. Be careful if it has rained. W254 for example is a swamp after.

We went during the week and only a quarter of spots full. It's quiet, abundant wildlife, walking distance to the beach. No hook ups, but water is available by all camp sites. A lot of walking trails, there are ticks, beware. Very pleasant experience.

This park is a great place to enjoy peace, quiet, cooler weather and no fireworks which our dogs especially appreciate. For some reason this year, 2024 there is an obvious lack of maintenance. Perhaps California is too broke to mow the tall grass, but having campers, barbeques and camp fires so close to so much tall grass seems like a bed mix. Otherwise, it's still a great location.
