About White Wolf Campground

Campground in California.

Nestled in the heart of California's high country, White Wolf Campground offers RV travelers an authentic mountain camping experience at over 8,000 feet elevation. This public campground provides a peaceful retreat for those seeking to escape the crowds and immerse themselves in pristine wilderness surrounded by towering pines and granite peaks.

The campground's location places you in one of California's most spectacular natural regions, where crisp mountain air and starlit nights create the perfect backdrop for a memorable RV adventure. The elevation brings cooler temperatures year-round, making it an ideal destination during California's warm summer months when lower elevations become uncomfortably hot. The setting appeals to nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families looking for a genuine camping experience without excessive development or commercialization.

Being a public campground with 74 sites, White Wolf strikes a balance between accessibility and maintaining a more natural, less commercialized atmosphere compared to private RV parks. This means you'll find fellow travelers who appreciate the outdoors and understand the appeal of camping in a more rustic setting. The mountain environment provides endless opportunities for hiking, photography, and wildlife observation. Early mornings often reward campers with sightings of deer, squirrels, and various bird species native to the Sierra Nevada region.

The high elevation location means you're positioned to explore some of California's most iconic attractions and natural wonders. The nearby national and state parks offer incredible day trip possibilities for those interested in hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, and geological formations. Summer is the prime season for visiting, when mountain roads are clear and the weather is most favorable for outdoor activities.

This campground appeals particularly to RVers who value solitude, natural beauty, and an escape from tourist-heavy destinations. Whether you're planning an extended mountain stay or using it as a base for exploring the surrounding region, White Wolf Campground delivers an authentic California high country camping experience that reconnects you with nature and simpler pleasures of life on the road.

If you're looking for peace, quiet, and a chance to enjoy true nature, this is the perfect place. It's about a 45–55 minute drive from Yosemite Valley, but it's absolutely worth it. The restrooms are clean and well-maintained. It's also conveniently located near Mono Lake and May Lake. Most importantly, don’t forget to bring mosquito repellent!

Nice chill vibe. I stayed on site 9. I crammed a 16ft tent in the 6ft tent location without any issues. No need to buy firewood because there is plenty all around to burn. There is a big rock in front of the parking space so only 1 vehicle can fit.

This campground is absolutely beautiful! Campsites are $18.00 a night with no hook ups. The bathrooms have flush toilets and are kept clean. The site's are big and each site comes with a large bear locker. There is a small stream that flows through and lots of large rocks that the kids love climbing on.

Great campground, about 1 hr from Yosemite Valley and 45/50 min from Tuolumne meadows. No water in campgrounds. It is very nice and lots to do.
