About Wild Canyon Ranch

Campground in California.

Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley wine country, Wild Canyon Ranch offers a unique camping experience that perfectly balances natural beauty with access to one of California's most celebrated regions. Located in Calistoga, this public campground serves as an ideal basecamp for travelers seeking to explore the rolling vineyards, geothermal hot springs, and charming small-town character that define this corner of Northern California.

The surrounding landscape is nothing short of spectacular. Calistoga sits at the northern end of Napa Valley, where volcanic peaks rise dramatically and create a dramatic backdrop for outdoor adventures. The area is renowned for its natural hot springs and mineral pools, which have made it a destination for wellness and relaxation seekers for over a century. Beyond the geothermal attractions, the region offers endless opportunities for hiking, with trails winding through oak woodlands and past scenic vistas. The Palisades Trail and surrounding hiking paths provide accessible options for those wanting to stretch their legs and breathe in the fresh California air.

Wine enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise here. Calistoga and the surrounding Napa Valley boast world-class wineries, tasting rooms, and wine bars within a short drive. Whether you're interested in Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, or other varietals, there's no shortage of opportunities to taste and learn from passionate vintners. Many wineries welcome visitors for tastings, tours, and special events throughout the year.

The town of Calistoga itself is worth exploring. The downtown area features art galleries, farm-to-table restaurants, spas offering mud baths and mineral treatments, and local shops showcasing regional products. Main Street has a charming, walkable character that makes it easy to spend an afternoon browsing and dining.

This location appeals to a wide range of travelers. Wine lovers appreciate the proximity to renowned vineyards and tasting rooms. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the hiking trails and natural springs. Couples seeking romantic getaways find plenty of activities from sunset vineyard picnics to spa treatments. Families can enjoy the natural attractions and kid-friendly activities scattered throughout the region. Retirees appreciate the slower pace and wellness-focused amenities that Calistoga is known for.

The campground's position in Calistoga means you're also well-positioned to explore other parts of Napa Valley, including Oxbow Market in nearby Napa, or venture to neighboring Sonoma County. The drive times are reasonable, making day trips very feasible while maintaining a relaxing pace.

What a fantastic place! The best we've had in the last 2 weeks. We dropped in without a reservation, but that was no problem at all. Very friendly hosts. Very clean bathrooms, showers and laundry. Sites have varying degrees of shade as trees were lost from past fire. Some train and traffic noise but it didn't bother me. Close to the lake and walking trail about 10 min drive. I would stay here again and highly recommend.

Beware, if you need to cancel…Made a reservation in June. We had a change of plans and I emailed my cancellation to them 11 days prior to our arrival. I never got a response back, nor a refund. I brought this to the Manager’s attention. He said he would give me half the refund. I told him that was illegal and I would call the Better Business Bureau. He told me if I had been nicer he would have given me a refund. I did my due diligence, they did not get back to me, and he told me he would turn me into the region-wide do not book list. Thought you all should know how they treat people. Every other review I have left on Google, has been 5 Stars.

After a welcoming host, clean cut clear sky site, a strong wifi network, an efficient laundromat and a perfect dog park (in our opinion), we enjoy our stay at Canyon RV ranch which, by the way, have no horse on site.

This is our second year staying here. We really enjoy the tranquil setting. Green grass at every site, picnic tables provided and plenty of shade. They have new washers and dryers for convenience. Super close to the boat ramp at Lake Almanor. Camp Hosts on property for security and convenience. Restrooms are clean as well.

I'm sure it's a beautiful venue, but I reached out multiple times over email and tried to message on instagram as well, and got nothing back. Not sure if they're even open anymore, and if they are, they don't communicate at all with potential clients 🤷🏼‍♀️
