Very basic camp sites. Great if you're passing through. Not much shade.

Upon arriving a spotted a bald eagle 🦅 flying to what I think is it's nest northeast of the campground. This campground sits on the bank the Little Truckee River just north of the Boca Resivoir. The campground doesn't have any canopy or shade but make up with location and views. You'll be able to spot lots of geese walking up from the Resivoir in the morning alongside the river. The river is cold but the water is fresh. I was at the north end of the campsite. All campsites seem like they're a good distance from one another. I picked one with some shade but you'll find very little here. They have first come first serve sites so you should have some luck just stopping by and finding a site. I give this campground 5 Stars cause of its wilderness aspect and location to water recreation like boating and fishing. The campground was pretty clean and the restrooms did the job. This is bear country but I didn't spot any bears during my stay. In the evening, again, you might get lucky and have some deer stop by your site to look around. One of the best campgrounds I've ever been to and at first I didn't really care for it because of the dirt and lack of shade. I'm so glad I stayed. Best view and wilderness feel I've felt in a while.

This was a great place to camp. Definitely the coldest nights, tho. But hey... The fishing was excellent.

Really nice campground. No hookups but lots of trailers to hike or take a Utv, dirtbike or quad on.
