July 2026. Buckhorn is one of the best local campgrounds that we've been to. We found a nicely shaded large site. When we went there were zero mosquitoes, but the creek running through the campgrounds was mostly dried up. It was hot during the day, the shaded site helped a lot, and pretty cold at night. Vault toilets were pretty dirty. Water spigots are sparse. Not much wood around and there is no... July 2026. Buckhorn is one of the best local campgrounds that we've been to. Not much wood around and there is no camp host to buy wood from. I suggest bringing your own. There are no outposts or general stores around. Everyone was pretty respectful of the noise level.

There's basically only a stream going through the camp during the spring from what the ranger told me. 🌊 💦 • ️⁉️️⁉️ Had plenty of people come to our camp to ask questions about our plans since they're eager to sit and wait for spots to open up....⁉️⁉️ • Lots of wasps that are apparently into meat that seem to come right when you pull it out to get ready to cook...not bees, wasps...

Just got back from a trip to buckhorn. Great campground very shady in many sites. We got to camp at about noon on a friday and there were still a handful of spots available to choose from. Lots of families camping and everyone we noticed was friendly and respecting of other's space. nothing really to say about the vault toilets they are what they are but the running water is a real benefit. good h... Great campgrounds. Located in the San Gabriel National Monument. Access to the Burkhart Trail - a beautiful trail with lots of wildlife and spectacular views.

Best campground with hiking trails to a Waterfall which is approx 5 miles up & down. Spring or Early summer is best time to camp here
