Quiet, secluded forested NFS Campground, on dirt road, well off the main paved route (Bucks Lake Rd). Camped here solo one night and there was lots of wildlife / noises, so if you frighten easily, this may not be the spot for you. Stayed here several times and I always have the whole place to myself. Meadow nearby is a popular attraction for many animals. NOTE: this campground did not burn in rec... NOTE: this campground did not burn in recent wildfires (Dixie, Claremont, North Complex) so it is intact and close enough to drive back to the fire line where the (lightning strike) Claremont Fire began.

Not too terribly well known. But we haven't been able to camp for a long time and plan to start soon. Our favorite. Sites are not too close together, which is important to us, the pit toilets weren't so bad. Close to Quincy for supplies if needed, but far enough out to be quiet. the rangers swing through once or twice a day and there is cell service.

Deanes is majestic. The land of tall trees. It is isolated and off the grid, but worth the effort. Campgrounds have firepits with hinged grates as well as ursine resistant food storage containers. No running water except for the chuckling streams. Some sources claim to have seen the elusive Sasquatch in these pristine forests where men rarely venture, but I do not believe those tales. At least, no... Deanes is majestic. The land of tall trees. It is isolated and off the grid, but worth the effort. Great place to set up base to hike, snowshoe. Only others around us were a few coyotes.

Great site. Bathrooms were clean and nice smelling for a pit toilet
