Nice quiet place to cool off. Don't forget to pack out any and all trash. Keep California clean.

It's always nice at French gulch park. Good for all ages. Baby and toddler area as well as big swimming hole for the olders. Nice and relaxing. Spa holes to sit in and let the water glide over you, to the shallow water for play for the young ones, to the falls, jumping rocks and swimming holes for the older crowd. Always something to do.

Grew up out in the Gulch. It had just started to really mend it'd self up from the fire from the early 2000s, with a breeze and all the shade from the trees it use to be a easy 10 or more degrees cooler than Redding back in the day, the Carr fire knocked the recovery back another 20 years or so but the park and the swimming hole the 'Falls' are like an oasis in the desert and still have nice tall... In the heat of summer it's still a good place take the wife and kids or meet up with some friends and hangout for the day, there's a couple of horse shoe pits and little swimming holes right at the park, bring food, there are no longer barbecue pits there but having a picnic occasionally is cool enough. It's a nice safe place to hangout with the family to escape the crowds in Redding and you won't find any homeless unlike many of the other parks around here, if lucky you might find some gold, if you bring a pan.
