About LAGUNA

Federal campground in California.

Nestled in the heart of California's National Forest system, Laguna offers RV campers an authentic escape into nature's tranquility. This well-established campground provides a genuine forest experience where towering trees create a natural canopy above your rig, offering shade and a sense of seclusion that many RV parks simply cannot match. The setting is peaceful and serene, making it an ideal destination for those seeking respite from busy highways and crowded tourist destinations.

The surrounding National Forest landscape presents endless opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventure. Hiking trails wind through the forest, ranging from leisurely walks perfect for families to more challenging routes for experienced adventurers. The pristine forest environment is home to diverse wildlife and native plant species, creating a rich natural ecosystem that changes beautifully with the seasons. Bird watching is particularly rewarding here, with numerous species making their homes throughout the area.

What makes Laguna special is its balance between accessibility and authentic wilderness. RV travelers appreciate the convenient location while still feeling genuinely removed from civilization. The campground serves as an excellent base camp for exploring the broader National Forest region, which offers countless recreational opportunities throughout the year. Whether you're interested in photography, nature study, or simply unplugging from daily life, the forest setting provides an inspiring backdrop.

The area appeals to a wide range of travelers. Families find it welcoming and safe, with plenty of outdoor activities to keep everyone engaged. Retirees enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and moderate activity level options. Adventure enthusiasts appreciate the access to backcountry trails and natural attractions. Solo travelers and couples value the quiet reflection time and connection to nature that this setting affords.

Visiting during different seasons reveals the forest's varied character. Spring brings wildflowers and renewed growth, summer offers warm days perfect for outdoor activities, fall showcases spectacular color changes, and winter provides a different kind of beauty for those equipped to camp in cooler weather. Whatever season calls to you, Laguna delivers an authentic National Forest camping experience that keeps visitors returning year after year.

Nice, well maintained campground. The views are awesome but depends on your campsite. We were lucky to get one with the best views, especially during sunset! Park staff were friendly and informative. Everyone was considerate of quiet time and we had a restful sleep especially with the ambient sound of waves crashing. You can only use a propane fire pit, no tent stakes either. We will definitely be back if we get lucky enough to snag a good site!

Excellent camping location for snorkeling at Crystal Cove State Park and El Moro beach. Great to swim, snorkel and relax. I snorkeled along the huge ocean cliffs towards Avalon point, which is further south around the cliff. There is abundant sea life there, I left some photos to showcase the marine life, it is protected, not touch or take city policy. I feature my adventure on YouTube @hikebytes... Check it out for sure, we loved it 😍 Enjoy 🙌

This beach is truly something special. Just a little north of Main Beach in Laguna, it offers a peaceful, scenic escape that feels like a hidden gem—especially for those in the know. Even on weekends or during the summer, you can often find a quiet spot to yourself. On my most recent visit (you can see from my photos), I practically had the whole beach to myself. The views are absolutely breathtaking—classic Southern California beauty at its finest. You’re allowed to bring food and drinks, which makes it great for picnics or full beach days. Parking is generally manageable, with an upper and lower lot plus a few in-between spots. Just keep in mind it’s a state beach, so parking is $15 for the day, and they accept card only—no cash. One important note: to access the beach, you’ll need to walk through a short tunnel that sometimes floods. It’s a quick walk, but be prepared to take off your shoes and lift your items if needed. Also, dogs aren’t allowed on this beach, which is good to know in advance. Despite the minor quirks, this is hands-down my favorite beach—and I say that as a California native. It’s serene, spacious, and stunning. A perfect slice of coastal paradise.
