About ROBINSON CREEK NORTH

Federal campground in California.

Robinson Creek North offers a pristine camping experience nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California, where towering pines and crystal-clear mountain air create an authentic escape from everyday life. This National Forest campground provides the perfect balance of accessibility and natural solitude, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, and solo adventurers seeking genuine mountain camping without sacrificing basic comfort.

The surrounding landscape is nothing short of spectacular. Visitors find themselves surrounded by dense coniferous forests, meadows dotted with wildflowers during spring and summer months, and stunning views of the Sierra ridgeline. The elevation and forest setting create a refreshing climate, particularly welcome during hot summer months when the cooler mountain air becomes a precious commodity. Morning fog rolling through the pines and golden sunsets reflecting off distant peaks are regular occurrences that make this location special.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the location serves as an excellent basecamp for hiking, fishing, and exploring the high country. Robinson Creek itself provides opportunities for those interested in fly fishing, while numerous trails branch out from the campground into the surrounding National Forest. Backpackers often use this location as a jumping-off point for multi-day wilderness expeditions, appreciating both its location and facilities.

The nearby town of Mammoth Lakes, situated not far from the campground, offers excellent restaurants, grocery stores, and services for those moments when you need supplies or want to enjoy a meal prepared by someone else. This proximity to town amenities while maintaining a genuine wilderness atmosphere makes Robinson Creek North particularly appealing.

The campground works well for RV camping during the summer and early fall months when weather conditions are ideal. Early mornings filled with birdsong, afternoons perfect for outdoor activities, and nights where stars dominate the sky create memories that last long after your trip ends. Whether you're seeking peaceful solitude, family bonding time, or a base for mountain adventures, this National Forest location delivers an authentic California mountain experience.

There are some trees and adequate shade. If you have a spot by the river it's fabulous. Compared to all the other campgrounds between Bridgeport and Mono village North and South Robinson Creek are probably the best. Very small spaces, nicely maintained restrooms, water available ,easy drive into town or to Twin Lakes. Unfortunately no trails out of this campground.

This was one of the campgrounds that I stayed at over the last two months. The camp host is friendly and added to the great location. During my visit, we did have a black bear as a special guest one night trying to find food.

Nice campground close to Twin Lakes, with a good amount of tree coverage, our site #13 did not have trees. That is how we got a campsite, as the campground was full. Bathrooms were clean, there was even a solar-powered motion light for nighttime usage. We camped on July 14th, the weather was hot and the lake was wonderful to kayak in.
