About Crescent City-Redwoods KOA

Campground in California.

Nestled along the iconic Highway 101 corridor in Northern California, Crescent City-Redwoods KOA offers RV travelers the perfect home base for exploring one of America's most magnificent natural regions. This well-established park provides convenient access to the towering coastal redwoods, dramatic Pacific coastline, and charming small-town character that makes this area of California so special.

Crescent City itself is a working fishing village with genuine character and authentic coastal charm. The harbor bustles with commercial fishing activity, and visitors can watch fishing boats come and go while enjoying fresh seafood at local restaurants. The town has managed to maintain its authentic feel while welcoming travelers, making it an ideal place to experience real California coastal culture rather than tourist-oriented attractions.

The primary draw for most visitors to this region is undoubtedly the redwoods. Several state parks within reasonable driving distance showcase these ancient giants that inspire awe in nearly everyone who sees them. The sheer scale of old-growth redwoods is something that photographs cannot adequately capture, and experiencing them in person is a bucket-list worthy adventure. Whether you're taking short nature walks or embarking on more ambitious hiking adventures, the redwood forests offer an escape into truly primordial landscapes.

Beyond the redwoods, the Crescent City area offers dramatic coastal scenery. The rugged Pacific coastline features sea stacks, tide pools, and scenic viewpoints that showcase the raw power and beauty of the California coast. Birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts will find plenty to appreciate, from sea lions to numerous seabird species. The contrast between the massive redwood forests and the dynamic ocean environment creates a uniquely diverse experience.

This location appeals particularly to nature-focused travelers, photographers seeking stunning vistas, families wanting to explore California's natural wonders, and anyone seeking a genuine small-town coastal experience away from crowded tourist destinations. The park's location makes it an excellent base for a multi-day exploration of one of California's most remarkable regions.

The RV spot was great and spacious, we loved that part. And the cost was very fair. I was disappointed that the men’s bathroom near our site was closed our entire stay for no apparent reason. The WiFi did not reach our rv site The laundry room was not in service and was a big reason we booked this stop on our road trip. I would have expected an email before we arrived to let us know that.

We're new to KOA's and camping with an RV in general and were so surprised to find such a charming place to rest our heads after a long day on the road. The grounds of this KOA are in the Redwoods, like, amongst them. If you didn't drive any further south, you'd still come away from this stay feeling like you'd gotten up close and personal with the magnificent Giant Sequoias. What a bonus! This property feels like it's owned and run by folks who love what they do. It would be a full-time job to keep a place like this up, and from what we experienced on a foggy evening in January, the property owners here are present, caring, and ready to serve. Highly recommend this place for anyone, whether you're RV camping, tent camping, or wanting to experience the darling little cabins sprinkled throughout the property. We saw one couple enjoying their cabin with a hammock stretched in their little yard. What a magical way to spend an evening! Great job, keep it up! Photos are of my husband on this KOA property. There's SO much to see! Photo of me just outside of Crescent City, again, SO much to see! If the Redwood trees aren't enough, try the Pacific Ocean on for size. I dare you not to be in Awe!

We’ve been to a lot of KOAs. This isn’t the best one. But it’s certainly not the worst. If you’re going to spend most of your time in the park, and only sleep in your camper then this one is fine. It was quiet at night and apparently safe. Would recommend. Probably.

The campground is nice and there are some nice tent camping spots that are secluded. The gal tried to force me to take a full hookup site even though I don’t need it. We settled on a partial hookup, which was fine, but the park was nowhere near full like she had said. The location wasn’t terrible, but I wish I had picked a park south of Crescent City instead.

Loved it here, I stayed one night in my van, had the best vibes.. the trees, ferns, and banana slugs blew my mind. Clean laundry facility (only one washer and dryer functional). The showers were hot and the beers were cold! What more can I say.
