About Kern River Sequoia RV Resort

Campground in California.

Nestled in the scenic foothills of California's Sierra Nevada region, Kern River Sequoia RV Resort offers an exceptional home base for exploring one of the most spectacular natural areas in the state. Located at 13801 Sierra Way, this RV park provides convenient access to world-class outdoor recreation, towering giant sequoias, and the pristine waters of the Kern River.

The setting here is truly remarkable. You'll find yourself surrounded by the natural beauty that makes this corner of California so special. The nearby giant sequoia groves are among the most awe-inspiring natural wonders on earth, with trees that have stood for thousands of years. These massive monuments of nature create an almost spiritual atmosphere that many visitors find deeply moving. Whether you're a first-time visitor or returning for another adventure, the chance to walk among these ancient giants is an unforgettable experience.

The Kern River itself is a major draw for outdoor enthusiasts. The river offers excellent opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and rafting, depending on your skill level and interests. The surrounding trails provide hiking options ranging from gentle riverside walks to more challenging mountain routes, so whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll or an adventurous expedition, you'll find something to match your abilities. Many visitors spend their days exploring the numerous trails that crisscross the region, each offering unique perspectives on the landscape.

Beyond the immediate natural attractions, the area's small communities nearby offer authentic Sierra Nevada charm. You'll discover local restaurants, shops, and services that cater to visitors while maintaining the region's character and hospitality. The elevation and location provide relief from summer heat in other parts of California, making this an ideal destination during the warmest months of the year.

Great spot basically on the river! We were in spot 48, excellent spot with lots of room. Fit our 30ft motorhome easy. Has a slight turn on the parking spot but no problems with ours. If you have the big 45 footer maybe close to a rock or 2 but other than that it was clean and everything worked great. The Staff was out cleaning and raking spots all the time. They show great care for their guest!! W... Great spot basically on the river! We were in spot 48, excellent spot with lots of room. Fit our 30ft motorhome easy. This was a last minute weekend trip for the family. Staff was very nice. We came late at night after office hours and the person that oversees the night check in was quick to respond when we called. She was very informative on the heating system for the cabin. She made sure the hot water was working as well. It was a quaint location and walking distance to the river. We were looking for a quiet place to spend Christmas (12/23-26/2025) that was not far from home but seemed far away. We found exactly what we were looking for at Camp James. The "River House" was a great size for us (3 bedrooms, 2 full baths). It was fully equipped with everything we needed: plenty of towels, fully equipped kitchen (and not dollar tree stuff!), even a washer & dryer. The yard area was good for our dog. We could sit on the patio to listen to the river and the rain or take full advantage of the grounds for long walks. The only down side...so much rain! But, even then, it was peaceful, relaxing and just what we needed. We are definitely going back in the spring!

The weekend brought lots of families and pets, and I enjoyed them as well. The late September weather was warm and perfect during the daytime, and I was very comfortable at night in my tent. The front desk people were friendly and informative, and the maintenance crew was exceptionally thorough. The grounds are beautifully maintained. I’ve been coming to Camp James for years and I expect to return for many more.

We had a fabulous 6 days in August, walking distance to Kernville, check out their museum! easy side trip to 100 Giants, and Upper Kern.
