We had a great time at the KOA. The staff was super friendly and always helpful. We booked a deluxe poolside cabin. The pool was fun and we were very glad to have the hot tub. This time of year (February) the pool was cold, but it didn't keep the kids from swimming in it. The campground showers and bathrooms were clean and well kept. We wished the jumping pillows were open longer hours. We enjoyed the fun family bikes they had for rent though. Overall, great stay and we will be visiting again!

Had a terrible experience here. We were staying there 5 nights in a camping cabin. The second night our fire alarm started chirping. It was around 6 am. It was around 6 am. We let the front desk know and they said they would send someone down to take care of it. I didn’t see anyone come but were so busy running back and forth to the pool I hoped I had just missed them. That night around 1 am we found out it had not been taken care of when the chirping started again. We called and the after hours man came and removed the unit for us. The next day we were told it was fixed but that night at 3 am it started chirping AGAIN. This time we could hear other units around us also chirping. The man who came said the battery didn’t look new. the next day I went to the front desk and asked what the heck was up . Three nights in a row! She said well have you told anyone about this? As if I hadn’t. Have I ever. We had talked to people at the desk. We had texted their help line and called. She was brisk and didn’t really want to hear the whole story. They finally put in a new unit and that night fire alarm chirping did not keep us up. So 2 stars for the 2 nights we actually got some sleep. This was an issue that should not have continued more than one night and customer service and communication had huge room for improvement.

You must realize you are camping in a dense populated location. I think it's unfair reading some of the reviews on this page that people were upset about hearing the freeway. Amenities were great, staff were VERY friendly and helpful (ask them were to eat around town), and sites were tight but manageable. Cons - staff were very intense about a certain rules like at the bounce thing, but the pool was the Wild West with young teenagers. I felt I had to tell some of them off because they were rough housing around little kids. Also, it gets pretty wild at night. Kids were riding bikes, being loud, playing on the basketball court until midnight. The food place there was really good! And fair priced.

My godson wanted to go camping for the first time, it was his mother's worst nightmare. So we did the least outdoorsy camping and all were happy. This location is in the middle of San Diego, you can see the freeway and hear loud cars but it was great! It really did feel like we were out of town even though we only drove 20 minutes to get there. It is amazing for families, so many things for the kids to do and the best part for the tired parents, the pool and hot tubs close late. Perfect way to end the day after kid friendly activities all day. We were there for the fall festival, with a costume parade, pumpkin carving, Halloween decor prices. It was lovely. The community kitchen is very convenient, the baths and showers were clean. I'm very tempted to check out other KOA locations, maybe in an area with less light pollution to look at the stars

I highly recommend this place to literally everyone, no matter how high maintenance you are. I guarantee this to be a stay you won't regret or want to leave. I will always stay here when visiting San Diego. No matter the time of year. They have everything you want, need, and wouldn't expect a KOA to have. I can't wait to go back.
