About Mad River Rapids RV Park

Campground in California.

Nestled in California's rugged Trinity County region, Mad River Rapids RV Park offers RV travelers an authentic gateway to some of Northern California's most pristine natural landscapes. Located at 3501 Janes Road, this park provides an ideal base camp for adventurers seeking to explore the dramatic terrain and outdoor recreation opportunities that define this corner of the state.

The Mad River itself is the crown jewel of this area, flowing with the kind of raw natural power that has captivated visitors for generations. Whether you're an angler hoping to test your skills against native steelhead and salmon, or simply someone who finds peace in the sound of rushing water, the river's proximity makes this location special. The surrounding region boasts dense forests, canyon views, and a sense of remoteness that feels increasingly rare in our connected world. This is a place where you can genuinely disconnect and immerse yourself in California's backcountry character.

The area serves multiple types of travelers beautifully. Outdoor enthusiasts find endless opportunities for hiking, fishing, and exploring nearby trails and natural areas. Those interested in geology and natural history will appreciate the dramatic terrain carved by the Mad River over millennia. Photography enthusiasts discover compelling landscapes at nearly every turn, with golden hour light painting the canyons in breathtaking hues. Families looking for a peaceful retreat from city life find genuine tranquility here, along with outdoor activities that appeal to all ages.

Beyond the immediate park setting, the broader region offers fascinating exploration opportunities. Small mountain towns nearby maintain authentic Gold Rush and logging heritage, providing cultural context for understanding Northern California's history. The area's elevation and forest coverage create a naturally cooler climate, making it especially appealing during California's hot summers. Spring and fall bring particularly pleasant weather, though the park's location means four-season accessibility for different types of camping experiences.

This is the kind of destination where time moves differently, where your daily routine shifts to match the rhythms of nature rather than schedules and notifications. Mad River Rapids RV Park serves as your comfortable home base for experiencing the genuine California wilderness that many visitors travel for but few actually find.

Wonderful people and wonderful place to stay short term or long term. We stayed 6 months and loved how kind and caring and trustworthy the staff are. Enjoyed the hot tub which they kept clean and at temperature. Always beautifully landscaped. Will be telling our friends that this is a great place to stay.

I appreciate this park very much; it's lovely, reliable, and affordable. I do furnish my own internet, but the laundry and bathroom facilities are wonderful. The staff are kind and they have daily landscaping/maintenance. My neighbors are wonderful, as well. They have helped me to feel at home. Thank you.

After a harrowing night practically on a cliff, the flat, near level, paved spot here was a very welcome sight!! The area was quiet and had charming areas with beautiful flowering plants. Exceptionally clean and well kept!
