About Mariposa Fairground RV Park and Campgrounds

Campground in California.

Nestled in the heart of California's Gold Country, Mariposa Fairground RV Park and Campgrounds offers travelers an ideal home base for exploring one of the Sierra Nevada's most captivating regions. Located in the charming town of Mariposa, this RV park combines convenient amenities with proximity to some of Northern California's most iconic natural wonders and historic attractions.

The town of Mariposa itself carries the rich heritage of California's Gold Rush era, with well-preserved buildings, local shops, and restaurants that reflect its colorful past. Walking through downtown, you'll discover antique stores, galleries, and eateries that showcase the region's character. The community maintains a welcoming, small-town atmosphere that makes visitors feel immediately at home while offering all the services and conveniences needed for a comfortable stay.

What makes this location particularly special is its strategic position as a gateway to Yosemite National Park. The park sits approximately 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley, making it an accessible alternative to staying within the park itself, often with greater availability and more affordable rates. From here, you can easily access world-famous attractions including El Capitan, Half Dome, Bridalveil Fall, and Glacier Point. The scenic Highway 140 route into the park is itself a memorable drive through forested terrain and along the beautiful Merced River Canyon.

Beyond Yosemite, the surrounding area offers abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. The region is dotted with historic mining sites, scenic byways perfect for leisurely drives, and numerous hiking trails ranging from easy nature walks to more challenging mountain routes. Lake Don Pedro, a beautiful reservoir just south of town, provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and water recreation throughout the year.

The fairground setting gives the park a unique, community-oriented feel while maintaining the spaces and facilities RV travelers expect. This location appeals to everyone from families planning their first national park visit to experienced travelers seeking a less crowded alternative to in-park accommodations, history buffs interested in Gold Country heritage, and outdoor enthusiasts looking for a comfortable base camp for Sierra Nevada exploration.

It really should be 4.5 stars as a deduction for unlevel sites. Staff and hosts were great great middle place to park the rig then explore YOSE! Great Verizon cell service. The park wifi works better in the grassy area, I couldn't ever connect in lot 3.

I recently drove up there for a horse competition my grand daughter was in, beautiful scenery awaits you on the drive there. Depending on which route you take you'll pass directly beside Chukchansi Gold Eesort and Casino. The fairgrounds itself is built o the side of a mountain so be prepared to walk up and down slight elevations. My trip was for the day so I unfortunately wasn't able to do much... Campground had water and electricity but the dump station was in another area. WiFi was spotty. It was quiet and remote. The area wasn’t level but we made do.
