About Virginia City RV Park

Campground in California.

Virginia City RV Park sits in the heart of one of California's most historically significant mining towns, offering RV travelers a unique blend of Old West charm and modern convenience. Located at 355 F Street, this park provides an ideal base for exploring the rich heritage and natural beauty of the Nevada County foothills region.

Virginia City is steeped in Gold Rush history, and staying at the RV park puts you right in the middle of it all. The town itself is a living museum where wooden storefronts, vintage saloons, and authentic period buildings transport you back to the 1870s. Walking the streets around your RV site, you'll encounter genuine artifacts and stories from California's mining boom era. The nearby Nevada County Gold Mine offers guided tours that take you deep underground to experience what prospectors actually faced during their search for fortune.

The surrounding landscape is equally compelling for outdoor enthusiasts. The area features excellent opportunities for hiking, with scenic trails winding through pine forests and offering views of the American River watershed. Fishing is popular in nearby creeks and waterways, while the cooler mountain elevation provides relief from summer heat. Photography enthusiasts find endless inspiration in the dramatic canyon vistas, historic structures, and stunning sunsets reflected off the surrounding terrain.

Beyond history and nature, Virginia City serves as a gateway to broader exploration. Empire Mine State Historic Park is within reasonable driving distance and showcases an impressive hardrock gold mine with beautiful gardens. The charming communities of nearby towns like Grass Valley and Nevada City offer additional dining, shopping, and cultural attractions. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to several wineries in the Sierra foothills region.

The town maintains a vibrant community atmosphere with seasonal events and festivals that celebrate Gold Rush heritage. Whether you're a history buff, outdoor adventurer, photographer, or simply seeking authentic Small Town America, Virginia City RV Park offers a memorable camping experience in a destination with genuine character and endless exploration potential.

Nice place. Spaces are close together and not level so bring your A game backing in and leveling your rig. Wifi was spotty and no one was there to reset the router. Great location. A little pricey for what you get.

This place is a GEM! The park is well maintained and the views out over the valley are spectacular. It is an easy walk into town to see all that Virginia City has to offer. Restrooms are clean and very spacious with separate rooms that have the toilet and shower together. They have a laundry room and a nice little store. The park is decorated with great rusty bits of cars and mining equipment. We had no problem backing in our 23-foot RV as the roads are nice and spots are well spaced. In the evenings, you'll often see horses wandering near the edges of the park.

We love to come visit and stay at the RV park. New owners/ management is in the process so we hope it only gets better and better.

Our stay at this RV park in Virginia City was amazing! Clean grounds, clean laundry facilities and bathroom facilities as well. We received a warm friendly welcome from the office and you’re just a walk away from everything. Although, walking in Virginia City Nevada is an experience all of its own, this sweet little diamond oasis had it all. Thank you to everyone that makes it so great!

The cost changed drastically from yesterday to day. We priced the site last night for $55, when we showed up today they charged us $78 per night. For that price the wifi should actually work but it does not. Unfortunately this is the only rv park in Virginia City that I know of.
