The 4 stars is for the campground. The campground is beautiful but it is laid out funny. It is a one way road thru the loops but the inner part of the loop is backwards. Your trailer door opens to the street and in our case, into bushes. If you go the wrong way on the road to get the door by the picnic/sitting area, the slider won't go out. The outer part of the loop was better for some bigger rigs but your slider goes to the edge of the street. There are some back in sites that work better. Pay attention to the map when you book! Loop A is better for some larger rigs, Loop B, our loop, had some great sites but as I said, they are laid out funny. Loop C was the tent area. You can get sites with electricity but no 50 amp. There is no sewer but they have outhouses. Also no water. There are water stations at each loop for water bottles but they ask you not to fill your trailer or large jugs. All water is shipped in!! This park is so worth the trip because the canyon is amazing! The campground is open in winter but no water at the station. They close the rim drive so you can cross country ski on it.

Lovely campground. Very private spots, 14A was very secluded from others and the road. Clean vault toliets and it's an easy drive into Montrose to get any supplies. No showers but the Montrose koa has showers for sale.

Spots are indeed close but the shrubbery makes them feel isolated. Excellent view of night sky. Wonderful campground to stargaze. Will tent camp here again!
