Camp ground is directly across the road from the Mt Elbert trailhead, making it convenient to get an early start to hike up to the peak, but there were a surprising amount of mosquitoes in the evening. The campground is fine. It has a pit toilet that is well maintained and a locking dumpster for your garbage.

We have been multiple times and we highly recommend staying here! Beautiful scenery😃 Hiking and fishing available at Emerald Lake. $8 per day for fishing at Emerald Lake. $22 per day to camp at Elbert Creek Campground. Vault toilets are available. Many campsites are on the creek. Plenty of shade available. You can hike the two tallest 14ers near this campground!

Good clean campground. Easy access from the road and has a wonderful river next to for a place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet. Restroom are clean and well taken care of, no running water but each campground has a picnic table and fire ring. Big plus is this campground is across the road from the parking lot for mount Elbert.

I would rate it the best campground I ever stayed in. Huge sites. The camp is by the mountain river. It is first come first serve. Turnaround is high as people mostly use it for just one night before scaling Mt. Elbert, so there is always sites available during week days. By weekend it gets tougher. Stayed there 5 days, scaled Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Camping... I would rate it the best campground I ever stayed in. Huge sites. It has one vault restroom and no running water (pump was not functioning), no showers. Having the river next to the tent solves the water issue.

We camped here for 4 days. This is a great place to camp if you are going to hike Mt.Elbert and Mt. Massive. Camp is right next to trail head. This camp has vault toilet and is very clean. Camp is right next to trail head. This camp has vault toilet and is very clean. This place is good for families and kids also. Out place was the first one on the left once you enter the campsite. It was kind of close to halfmoon Rd. There were quite a few ATVs driven on this road during late night and early mornings which disturbed the sleep. If possible, get a campsite on creek side instead of halfmoon road side.
