I am currently the Camp Host for Rocky Mountain Recreation. The campsites here are all clean with their own fire pit an picnic table. There are 3 vault style toilets that are frequently cleaned. All campsites are first come, first served. Please come and visit us. Remember the nightly rate is $22.00 this year in 2022.

Awful, don't waste your money. Camp host had a very loud generator running all night after quiet hours. Paid $24/night to not get any sleep at all. The sign at the self-pay station says quiet hours start at 10pm so of course when we pay the $24, part of the expectation is, well... quiet after 10pm. Actually walked over there around 10:15 and didn't see anybody, but their fire-ring had red hot glow... Awful, don't waste your money. To top it off the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Why even had a camp host, would have been better without one. Do yourself a favor and keep driving west past this campground, there are free dispersed sites. Don't make the same mistake I did. Oh and remember to douse your campfires folks!!

The road was very narrow at some very precarious spots. It was also full of pot holes and lots of stretches were washboardy. The campsites were good but I wouldn't recommend camping near the road. Lots of traffic and dusty. Halfmoon Creek is gorgeous! Dispersed camping so no amenities.

Wonderful campsite. Great location and within decent range of several 14ers and trailheads including Elbert, Massive, La Plata as well as the wonderful little city of Leadville. Nice and quiet while I was there, however it was during the week. Some good site selections. The sites are fairly well spaced apart. Beautiful woods and views of stars at night. The road getting there (Halfmoon Rd.) isn't too bad. A bit rough and narrow at times but go slow and you should be fine.

No water at all but still $19 a night, stayed two nights and never heard from or saw the camp host. Beautiful area, well spaced campsites, and very close to Mt Elbert and Mt Massive trailheads as well as Emerald Lake.
