Very horse friendly campground. Pool Table Road is very well maintained getting up to the site and was simple for the truck and trailer. Multiple hitching posts and two permanent high lines. There wasn't water that we could find close to camp to water the horses, but we brought in more than enough for them. Also the cleanest and best maintained vault toilet I've used. Multiple hitching posts and two permanent high lines. There wasn't water that we could find close to camp to water the horses, but we brought in more than enough for them. Also the cleanest and best maintained vault toilet I've used. Do be extremely cautious though, especially in high wind conditions due to the large quantity of dead trees. Beetle kill has ravaged the area and there are FAR more dead trees than live. The trail out to Wheeler Geologic Site was very clearly marked and easy to follow. There were two good spots to water the horses (2 mile and 7 mile mark away from camp) along the trail. We went in mid autumn, so the river crossing was easy for the horses to manage.

The cows strolling around are also a plus. You have the opportunity to see and hear pika’s as well. There are 2, full covered bathroom stalls that are fully enclosed. You must pack out all garbage.
