Campsites are a little close together for my taste, but it wasn’t a deal breaker. One thing I really appreciated was how conveniently placed the restrooms are throughout the campground — it makes things a lot easier. The only downside to our stay was running into an issue with the camp manager. The camp manager came up to us and was rude and hostile about the fact that we had a hummingbird feeder. We were never told by the camp hosts that this wasn’t allowed, and the reason given was that there was a bear in the area. When we explained that we hadn’t been made aware of this, the manager told us that people like us bringing feeders are the reason they’re going to end up having to kill the bear. We complied immediately and took it down, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessary and hostile, especially since the rule isn’t clearly presented. Overall, we enjoyed our time here. The setting is gorgeous and facilities are good, but communication about rules and the professionalism of staff could definitely be improved.

Very nice campground sites that are not necessarily on top of each other! We had sites 1 and 2, which were very nice. Nice hike to the lake! You can walk around most of the lake.

Go to Recreation.gov to ensure correct directions. It is off 165 in Rye at Lake Isabel, not in the middle of Canon City. We had 30amps in lot 20 and backed in very easily with our 18’ TT. There are tons of trails and picnic sites on the Lake Park Rd that has a beautiful running creek. The lake can get crowded but it’s big and beautiful with a decent walking path around it that is muddy in some spots. Definitely a great experience and campground.

Amazing and Beautiful. We stayed here for 20 bucks a night and was bummed we didnt find this place sooner. It took bad gps coordinates to put us at a Ranger station who gave an amazing map. And said follow the yellow lines he wrote through with a yellow sharpie. Led us to a Castle and other activities that was so fun. Not to mention its pet friendly.

Beautiful! Clean and host was very friendly! The "locals" were very friendly and close at all times! Even let us snap a few pics! Short walk to the lake, beautiful mountain scenery, and really beautiful tent campsites!! Only drawback was it was not easy to find for us, not from the area... no clear signs on the main roads.... but we ate glad our perseverance paid off! Best campground in the area!!... Beautiful!
