North St. Vrain Campsite #2

I’ve never experienced this kind of treatment at a state park before. Absolutely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the first question asked, without even a “good morning,” was what breed my dog was, and it was asked in a very rude way. After that, we were followed by a staff member in a golf cart who came speeding up behind us, caught up, then drove ahead only to slow down and wait for us... I’ve never experienced this kind of treatment at a state park before. Absolutely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the first question asked, without even a “good morning,” was what breed my dog was, and it was asked in a very rude way. After that, we were followed by a staff member in a golf cart who came speeding up behind us, caught up, then drove ahead only to slow down and wait for us, never once getting off the cart. He circled around twice, making it feel like we were being watched or targeted for no reason. I’m not sure if they were discriminating against us or our dog, but the whole experience felt extremely unwelcoming and uncomfortable. We ended up leaving after only an hour into our walk because we no longer felt comfortable being there.

St. Vrain State Park is such a beautiful spot to relax and enjoy Colorado’s great outdoors! The views are gorgeous, the ponds are peaceful, and it’s the perfect place for fishing, walking, or just unwinding with family. Water pressure at the dump station is good. If only the park were not next to I-25!
