Nice place to stay. We stayed in the cabins. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. We stayed one night in a single bed cabin. Wish we could have stayed more than a day for each visit. The hosts, a husband and wife, were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Incredible campground!!! The hosts were incredibly nice and very diligent, I can't say enough good things about them. The hike in Vallecito Trail was excellent also. I'll definitely be coming back to this campground. I wish there were showers but most National Park & National Forest campgrounds don't have showers, so it is what it is. Regardless, this was a beautiful campground with excellent hosts, and it was very clean and organized. Even the vault toilets/bathrooms were very clean. Again, this campground was so nice that I will definitely be coming back here in the future.

The campground is beautiful, clean, and peaceful! The sites are shady and well spaced. Not much in the way of amenities but that's part of what makes it peaceful and exactly what we wanted! The trail is breathtaking! The camp hosts were friendly and informative. Can't wait to go back!

My husband, my dog, and I had the most wonderful experience at Vallecito campgrounds! The campsite is extremely well maintained, the bathrooms remained clean the entire week we were there, and there is a beautiful trail/hike with beautiful views easily accessible right behind the campsites. There is plenty of firewood for sale nearby (at the campsite even), we were able to visit Durango, Ouray, and hike Ice Lakes Trail all only with a 1-2 hour drive. Theres a general store 10 minutes from the campsite with everything you might need from food (great meat selection), ice, mosquito repellant (the mosquitos were really bad, but keeping a fire going and mosquito repellant and a citronella candle helps immensely), beer, propane, and almost anything else you might need while camping. But the BEST PART.. was the customer service. I left my phone there at the bathrooms the morning we left for home in Austin, Texas and didn’t realize it until we had already been on the road for 3.5 hours. I called the San Juan National Forrest phone number I found on Google and left a voicemail, they called me back and got me in contact with Ruth Lynd and she was absolutely remarkable. She got in contact with the hosts at Vallecito Campgrounds who found my phone and arranged for her to come pick it up. She drove two hours out of her way to drive to the campsite and pick up my phone and drive to the UPS store and drop it off. I can’t recommend this campground enough, I wish I could do more than leave a review :) absolutely MUST STAY!!.

Campground hosts all excellent at what they do. Constantly helping folks with everything from fixing a generator to jump starting stranded travelers. No extra fees for pets here and many tent and RV sites available.
